4GB ram and I replaced the HD with an SSD a couple years ago

Tried the SMC and PRAM reset but still having the same issues. Random crashes at times when opening apps or going to more intense websites. Guess I'll just wait for a new MBP release.
sounds like a logic board problem or a corrupted OS. are you getting any beeps?

anyways,

just bought a 500 gb samsung 850 evo for my 2012 mbp. really want the newest mbp since its so light compared to this 2012 macbook pro.

sadly im broke so the best I can do is upgrade this joint

Pretty broke at the moment and my laptop just died. Looking to get a MBP used. I was looking at the 15" 2010-2011 MBP. I was just going to upgrade the ram and HD to SSD my self since i have spares.

My question is, is it worth it? They seem to be around toe 400 range. Any issues with those years? Are logic boards a common issue on ALL 15"? Any input would be great.

i have the Samsung 840 Pro 256gb SSD. Bought it from Newegg

How long have you had it for? Haven't had any issues with it?
Almost a year now

no issues yet. I did a lot of research when i was looking for a SSD.

Been thinking about upgrading the HDD on mine for a while now, might do it soon. Thanks for the input.

Haven't had any issues with mine, I have an early 2011. Only thing is I have a scrambled screen problem that I'm not sure how to get rid of. Tried resetting the PRAM and no go. It only happens when I'm playing video's on VLC or using a browser but doesn't happen on youtube.

avoid 2011. notorious for logic board problems. also avoid any used macbooks that had their logic board replaced before.

honestly i dont think its worth buying a used and upgrading. i'd just go with a 13 in macbook air or just get the new mbp retina.

Yea would love to go that route, but I just can't afford a new one right now. That is why I am looking at used MBP. Also upgrading it would be with spare parts that I already have such as an SSD and ram I have sitting. I know for a fact that an SSD is a huge boost. I just haven't had a MBP in a while to know what to look for on the used market. My company runs everything on the Windows side. I want a MBP for personal use and for the wife to surf the web.

Maybe I will go look for a used 13" MBP or MBA. The 15" just seems to be quite problematic. I enjoy the screen size though.

I still don't see the benefit of a 5k iMac, other than a really clear display.

I keep juggling between the 13" MBA or the 13" rMBP.

I saw that retina screen today in person & it really is a game changer.

I have the 13' MBP but I should've gotten the Air, just because its more thin and lighter.  And I don't do much except browse the internet/stream and do write reports.

I feel the same but oh well, not much I can do since I just bought the mbp in November. Either way im still happy.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. You got the one with retina? I was mad tight cause i got the regular MBP but when I found out when it was mid 2012 I just felt uhh

no unfortunately i got the regular MBP from mid 2012, its just a little heavier than i would like but like i said i still love it, its a awesome computer imo.

I currently have a mid-2012 MBP 13" - 2.9 ghz - 750 gb in great condition. I just want to upgrade to a retina because I don't use the optical drive, the retina is lighter and more portable, has an HDMI output, and just fits my needs better as a student.

Where would be a good place to take it in order to get the best value out of it or just possibly trade up to a rMBP in some way? Any suggestions?

My Mbp just stopped working on me. Won't load up in safe mode. Trying to boot it from my external hard drive right now, no idea what the heck happened. :(

Won't boot at all, looks like I'll be going to the Apple store tomorrow. -_-

loving my new rMBP...it's truly amazing.

this might be the OCD in me but is there a way to clean up the trackpad? I can see the "smooth" part on the trackpad. I'm assuming it's from the oils from fingers.

I was bout to cop a rMBP but http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac tells me I should wait it out a couple more months for the next release. Already have a solid laptop at the moment. Will be using it for editing, class, and homework mostly. Did anyone have regrets copping too soon?

as long as you have a 2012 & up MBP, you should be good for the next few years. No need to wait on the next model, but its up to you.
