Are there any simple programs like front row to use on lion? I know there's front row enabler but I don't feel like downgrading my iTunes.

solid state drive. Offers faster performance than regular hard drives, better protection when laptops drop (since there are no moving parts) & may give your laptop better battery life. They are expensive however.

I have the same model. I upgraded the ram to 8gb and it runs better. I rarely get the beach ball anymore. It might not be worth it if you don't run a lot of programs at once. This also helped me decide http://macintoshhowto.com/hardware/does-my-mac-need-more-memory.html. I'm still debating on the SSD. If you install it let me know how it goesOriginally Posted by Stay Lurkin

Ok, so I have a question.
I have a 2011 pro that is the 4GB of RAM model with the i5 processor or whatever. I was planning on upgraded my RAM too 8gb. Would that make it that much faster? And if I threw in this SSD it would be even faster?

An SSD would give it the bigger boost. but ram is cheaper & easier to upgrade although like fresh prince said, once you get to a certain point, especially if your not running a bunch of apps at once, more ram wouldn't do much since the hard drive will be bottle necking the system. So if your just doing the basics & don't mind the expensive prices/smaller storage space i'd go with upgrading the ssd first.Originally Posted by Stay Lurkin

I know how to record on my mac via quick time but what cable do I need to record what is being displayed on my tv? Or, what is the easiest way to go about doing this?
You can get the memory for about $30 through Newegg or $200 through AppleOriginally Posted by Stay Lurkin

And if I threw in this SSD it would be even faster?. You'll notice your system will be more snappy but unless you're doing heavy multitasking your system won't really take advantage of it. The SSD though is pretty remarkable. 2011 Macbook Pro supports Sata III drives with have amazing transfer speeds. Apple's own SSD only run at Sata II. I have a 120gb Sata III in my machine and every app opens instantly. It boots up in about 20 seconds. 120gb Sata III will run you about $200. You just have to make sure you can make the limited space work either through a data doubler or an external drive. I think both are well worth the money.
Yea. I was gonna post this one too. In order to get sound out go to sound settings and change output to HDMI and you'll be good.Originally Posted by georgehimself

Not sure which one you need, but I just bought a mini/thunderbolt to hdmi for 8 bucks shipped and it works great. Screw that 45 from apple.

Howd you get it to sync your yahoo account?
I did that for all my other accounts which work flawlessly but the yahoo account is always buggy so I just deleted it off the mail app. I'll try again though and just leave it there just to see how it goes.
