I'm starting to think that the pic that's floating around is the "mid", looks more of a high tho. And the wear test pair is the "low", but more of a mid.

Maybe not in the traditional sense, but it sure sounds like it will be in comparison to a high-top sock
Maybe Kobe and his design team decided to redefine what a "low", "mid", "high", etc. shoe is supposed to be.
To be honest though, it always looked like the upper part of that padded area would be right around where your ankle is to me, so I could see it just outright being lower than a lot of you think it is.
