Hmm, interesting. I don’t know enough about jewelry but it makes sense that 24k would be too soft. Would there be a 22k or 24k stamp on the clasp? I haven’t had a chance to check but will take a look tomorrow.

If I'm not mistaken the chain would be made using 24kt initially. Then the outer layer is sturdier thus making it a little under 24kt overall.
