people who take offense to being unintentionally called something similar but different from what they are are idiotic. if a person is mistaken then let themknow, don't just start yelling at them.

as far as the question about the accents it's a mix of there not being those specific sounds in the spanish language and people mixing english and spanish.I've literally seen someone start a sentence in english, say a couple words in spanish and go right back to english without hesitation. I've also seensomeone start a question in english, switch to a spanish accent but realize they don't know the spanish word so they said the english word with a spanishaccent.

baseball is also a big factor. there aren't translated words for "inning" or "strike" (strike basically became pronounced"estrike"). You can write a small book on the game of baseball's linguistic effects on spanish speakers, especially in the caribbean.
