I already had it at a 9 or light 10 after Vinland's first season tbh but I ended up loving Season 2.
Leading up to season 2, I heard nothing but negatives like 'get ready for the farming arc' but idk, I honestly think it's easily just as good as the first but in a totally different way.
It's not a season that could be enjoyed to this degree without the context of everything that happened in Season 1 though. It's a risky gamble to change directions so drastically but imo this puts it on a whole other level in terms of storytelling, character arcs, ...

I think i have a good idea of what joyboy and the world gov was fighting about. not sure if this theory has already been thought of though.

so vegapunk said it was a war about ideology. I think joyboy was basically equivalent to being a communist/socialist and the rest of the 20 kingdoms were for democracy.

the great war was essentially world war 2. after the war, the world government erased history because they were scared of the idea of communism would gain traction, just like the US and the allied powers were scared of it post WW2 (the second red scare as historians call it) and it caused the US to go to war in vietnam and korea in order to contain communism.

the world government meets every year for a meeting which is essentially the united nations. the world government being corrupt and Imu being in charge of the world government is basically Oda’s way of saying that democracy isn’t necessarily perfect either and that behind the curtains, there are a select few who really run the show.
The current One Piece world is not a democracy though.

W/e the WG decides is law. Specifically the 5 Elder Stars and Imu. If you break their laws they wipe you out.

Reveries are just a summit where the WG tells kingdoms how much they gotta pay monthly and the consideration of new kingdoms to enter the alliance.

The WG is actually an autocracy and to the world it is an oligarchy.

I never got the feel that the world of One Piece think it’s a democracy.

Damn near every island is its own fiefdom or actual kingdom. When things go wrong the ppl blame the one person in charge not a congress or encourage ppl to vote in order to change things.
