THE OFFICIAL AIR MAX 1 THREAD

The way these shops are only getting 1-2 pairs of each size I feel like my chances on SNKRS next Saturday are minimal like every other release.

Too many white/grey pairs so I'm letting go of these today. A little sad to see them go but I need the space.

No reason to use those kind of shoe trees (the cheap ikea kind). You are much better off using tissue/newspaper to stuff the shoes, trust me.

Yeah...nah.

Yeah I'm good . Thanks for the concern for my shoe tree choice 👍🏾

He's right though. I mean, you do you, but plastic shoe trees don't offer the same moisture absorbing capabilities as cedar, or even paper. And I'd argue that moisture absorption is the single most important benefit of shoe trees.

On the flip side, the plastic trees are cheap as hell.

I use them just bc I like the way they make the shoes look on the shelf. Outside of 4-5 pairs in the heavy rotation (og reds, am90 re-craft, 01 space hippie, Parra, SW) the rest of my shoes sit on a shelf and get worn 1-2 times a year at most so not worried about moisture. Its purely looks for me. They are cheap and do the trick for me.

But if you want to buy 500 cedar shoe trees, I won't judge you for it.

Even if you don't need the moisture absorbing benefits (and like NJHitmen NJHitmen mentioned even paper is better at that since plastic does nothing), the cheap ikea shoe trees don't offer any structural support around the toebox. If you're letting them sit for months with those cheap Ikea shoetrees I'd argue that does more harm than good. Even in his pics you can see that there is no support on the sides of the toebox, and it's putting more pressure than necessary in the center area. Also, the arched spring shape of those trees needlessly puts pressure on both the heel and digs into the toe. Shoe trees are meant for two things, helping to preserve the shape and helping to absorb moisture. Plastic shoe trees don't do either. You don't need cedar shoe trees for shoes like AM1, but for dress shoes they're a must. With these types of shoes you are better off with paper. Just using the ikea trees for aesthetic reasons and because they're cheap sounds pointless for me personally, but of course you guys do you, I'm just offering my views on why I think they are completely useless.

I used to use the tissue paper and then use a empty 16oz water bottle, cap pointed towards the back of the shoe

I think a lot of this is down to opinion and you are very much entitled to yours. That being said i think if you broke it down like NJHitmen NJHitmen it would have been a lot more beneficial to the forum in general. You make some points which sound like they come from a place of logic that being said you have made some assumptions without knowing the full picture. The style of shoe tree although not premium cedar wood are not the similar to the shoe trees you'll find at ikea. Anyway as long as the suggestion was coming from a positive place it was appreciated as I learned something.

Easy to say I’d prefer the honesty but if it actually happens who knows. Let’s just go back to waiting in line.

Oh hells to the no! I've never waited in a line for kicks and never will. I'd rather just miss out on a pair.

How could you tell from those pics what kind of shoe tree they were? I have cedar shoe trees that also have that metal looking arch thing.

Reading further it sounds like he could tell by looking at the toe box, and the non-full shape cheaper shoe trees tend to provide.
