*The Official 2008 NBA Finals Game 1 Post ~~ CELTICS vs LAKERS Vol. Stern got his way

Damn 4th Quarter.. shot after shot went halfway down (pinballed the rim) and bounced back out... the must have enabled it to be a casino-like hoop that decideswhen you get some "change"
laugh.gif
jk... Celtics out-hustled lakersin the 4th, even though refs called some weird calls and weren't consistent on both ends, but I don't believe the refs lost the game for them.
celts 1, lakers 0
frown.gif

Lakers are going to come out heated on Sunday
pimp.gif
pimp.gif

tie this series up!

great win by the Celtics.
they were the better team today...played awesome basketball in the 2nd half...

the Lakers played well in the 1st half despite Kobe jacking up bricks...
until they went MIA the rest of the way...

it's gonna be a loooong series.
i'm confident, the Lakers will get back in the series and win Game 2.

This is gonna be FUN!!!

...

you can't expect pau to do the same as these celtic forwards which is play dirty and hold jerseys but hey we roll through the punches and just PLAY ON!

I was really pissed when Kobe kept shooting fadeaway shots with 2 or 3 defenders on him the whole night.Kobe played right into the hands of the way the Celtics planned and wanted him to play. This type of play tonight is exactly the reason why Lamar Odom couldnt get involved in tonights game.

You can't blame kobe...

COMPLETELY.

Yes he did force. But we also didn't rebound. We didn't use the pick and roll that was working great plus 7 or8 shots rimmed out....

Let's just stop the blame game. Move on and think about game 2. I hope to see some of you at staples on sunday. I just got my tickets and I can't wait to scream and yell with laker fans and not in my house getting calls from neighbors asking me to shut up.
laugh.gif

I agree, Kobe bad shooting, and shot selection was a part of the reason why we lost. We stopped passing, rebounding, and we didn't execute (Kobe'sfavorite word) Refs had nothing to do with this loss.

why on earth is farmar playing 7 minutes. makes one fg, then gets yanked. and come on phil, arizas ready to go.

4. Celtics help defense was too good.
This post bugs me beacause you are wrong.

Pau played great tonight. Plus who the hell ever said pau wasn't soft? He played great d tonight.

You got the kobe thing right.

Walton and Farmar? Step up? Man come on now. There is no way in hell we can expect anything from them.

And 4 was kinda right. The D was good but it also helps that we had 6 or 7 shots rim out.

No need to diss every laker fan and then say ska saves us...

laugh.gif
I just love when Northern Cali fans come to share some unbiased views on the Lakers.
Was that directed at me? Because if you don't know I am socal through and through. I live 20 mintues away from staples and have probably been to as many laker games this year then have been in your life time.

no offense pac, but were you watching the same game

Pau was extra soft, had 3 or 5 points, the ENTIRE 2nd half, not to mention the constant lack of aggressiveness on the glass, as evidenced by KG having hisman-region all up on Pau's head, not to mention getting eatin' alive on D by KG, I don't know what great D you are talking about. KG just went outto floating on the perimeter like he always does in the 4th shooting jumpers, Pau wasn't playing good D.

Kobe forced some shots, that's true

We don't ever expect Luke to do anything, so that's not a suprise, I wish Phil would use Ariza, at least he wouldn't be a waste of space on thefloor

Celtics D was good, but we missed a LOT of WIDE open shots that went in and out

Kobe tried too hard
Gasol is soft as hell
Result = L

it's just one game tho...we definitely need to get Game 2

Those of you giving SoHi and tupac props: I give you props.

For now.

See, I've been here too long.

I know good and damn well that you won't remember the two folks who didn't blame the refs later in the future. I doubt you'll even remember Sunday.
laugh.gif
We'll just read your tired comments like 'Laker fans this' and 'Laker fans that', and you'll completely forget that you bigged them up in this thread.

I doubt they have even damaged the armor of your Laker-hating exterior.

There's extreme Lakers fans: Talking mess about Eddie House's son, hey look, we still got 3 rings, blaming the refs, overlooking gritty's post of the Lakers shooting in the 4th, calling PP soft, or, being sarcastic about PP's injury. They don't represent Laker fans like SoHi, pac, you, etc, but they still make up a sizeable chunk of Lakers fans. ....That's because the Laker following is huge. Especially here on NT.

There are Laker haters: Who, come in and instigate. Rub it in. Make threads about how CELTICS WIN GAME 1!!!!!11 etc.

Then there are countless of those objectively looking in, who don't even care about the Celitcs or the Lakers, just putting our two cents in on, the refs aren't to blame really for this Lakers loss. Lakers didn't really show up in the 4th. PP's injury did look serious, and the wheelchair thing, for those with common sense, should have interpreted it as a precautionary measure and not because PP is 'soft,' or was 'acting.' Etc.

Yep. We're Laker haters.

As far as shooting, I thought the Lakers were getting some pretty decent looks (in the 1st half)....

I didn't keep count, but I KNOW there a lot of shots that went halfway in but just didn't stay down.

oh, Pierce'd heard a POP?

still baffles me how the dude gets carried by his team mates to a wheel chair, wincing with pain...

Pierce'd comes back through the halls running gingerly like a damn quasi-hero

Amazing

i think the supporting cast played well except for rebounding...we got murked there. and boston just got too hot, it was all kg in the 1st half then pierce inthe 3rd quarter. plus E.T. and P.J, and Posey were huge off the bench for them...we got outhustled and outrebounded. we had a bunch of sloppy turnovers in the2nd half too. lakers will come out motivated for game 2 and hopefully they'll make smarter plays

Like others have pointed out, we lost as a team.

Kobe is Kobe.
When he makes his shots it's, "ZOMG Kobe is such a beast
pimp.gif
", when his shot isn't falling it's, "What the @#$$ Kobe, you suck
mad.gif
"
He was trying to get his teammates involved in the 1st half, but they weren't responding.
I don't know is it jitters(this team is VERY young and only Kobe and Fish have really any legit playoff exp.)
When his shot isn't working, he NEEDS to take it to the hoop.
He couldn't do that because Boston's D is very good, and his team just wasn't playing well, allowing Boston to focus in on him.

Look at the bright side, our team didn't play well and we were still in the game, I'm looking forward to game 2

Pau didn't play great D....Garnett dropped 22 and went inside whenever he wanted to. He cannot stay in front of Garnett. KG just went on that littlestretch where he took jumpers. KG is a very unselfish player...if he wanted to he would murder Gasol.

Obviously I was right about the Kobe thing...he needs to go back to his game 7 performance agasint the Spurs. Patienly taking his shots.

A lot of the games you guys won, Walton and Farmar stepped up big time. Not in terms of offense all the time, but the help defense and all the little thingslike rebound, set screens. The Lakers need that from those two. The reason why you guys are this far is because of all those great role players the Lakershave. And you out rebounded a lot of weak teams, and the Odom mis-matches.

The help D was wonderful man, your just in deniadle. The 4th quarter, the help defense shut down Odom and Kobe. Kobe forcecd up more than 4 shots, and areyou kidding me? Rim outs?? If it misses, it misses...a rim out doesn't justify or excuse anything....The Celtics held the Lakers to under 90 points.

If Cassel keeps playing in this series, then you guys have a solid shot at winning.
laugh.gif

Vlad is a liabilty on defense, cmon now. if Phil wants to make a statement, he should start Ariza instead of this VLAD. He came here to drop threes andhe's not even the best 3 pt shooter on the team.

and who's that guy in Boston in the corner who screaming and harrassing incessantly? he made Farmar turn the ball over in the corner.

i've been here for a long time as well, but i've always recognized which laker fans are rational. any regular S+T poster should know.

i hate to get on this topic again, but i don't think you're correct in your assumptions. this is beating a dead horse X infinity..so I'll keep itshort.

No one hates Laker fans just because they're Laker fans. It's hard to take some of them seriously because of how irrational some ofthem can be sometimes (blaming refs for every loss and always talking unnecessary smack about the other team). If you can't agree with that, I reallydon't know what to say.

Again, please note my use of the word some. Not all Laker fans are like this.

ska, you bring up a great point........

and sure the officiating was bad, but i hated how incosistant it was............in the first they called nothing, in the 2nd half they CALLED everything
celtics fans !!!

lets enjoy tonite !!!
exactly cause it only gets worse from here on in

Flip it.

Kobe goes down hard, and they dunno what's wrong with his knee.

It's game ONE of the NBA Finals, ie, there's SIX more games still to go.

Do you ask him to get up and 'see if he can walk around,' or do you bring out a wheelchair, to bring him back to the locker room to further evaluateand find out what's wrong with it?

Kobe comes back 2 minutes later, what do you think of Kobe?

"This dude Kobe is a warrior"

PP does it, Celtics win, and we get this as a result.

SOME Laker fans questioning the whole ordeal.

None taken...

But answer this question...

Pau had a great first half when they ran the pick and roll.

When did we stop using that pick and roll?

When did pau have a bad half?...

Hmmm....

laugh.gif
It's all good.

don't worry laker fans, kobe just finished his press conference...basically, he didn;t think the Cs defended well and guarantees he will make those shotsin game 2. fine.... what about everyone else? remember, if kobe's the only one playing well, then it's the 05-07 lakers.....

EXACTLY.

What ska doesn't get is, the Lakers following is STRONG. There's A LOT in the group.

As a result, not EVERYBODY acts the same.

There's A LOT of irrational Lakers fans. I mean, you can just look through this thread to see.

With that said though, there ARE rational Lakers fans here as well.

Just like how there ARE Laker haters out there.

But there's ALSO people who don't even care about the Lakers OR the Celitcs. Like me and acid, for example, and we chime in with what we chime inwith.

But we're like grouped in the 'Laker hater' group.
