The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I think it's a dumb move for him to fight. His security is in being the champ, that's why he can talk about unions and fighter pay and all that. He goes into this fight injured and loses to Connor, he loses alot of leverage.

Dumb, how? UFC pays him an arm and a leg to fight, he loses, and this sets up an even bigger rematch. Win-win-win for all three parties involved.

Losing to that jackass would suck so much.

"It's part of the business," McGregor told media Thursday night in Las Vegas. "It is what it is. I did predict it. You can't go into wars time and time again. The body breaks. The body has given in, but it's still there. It turns out it's just a bruised rib so a little bit of ice, little bit of Ibuprofen, little bit of toughen the f**k up and we should get on with the fight."

McGregor was even willing to fight at lightweight to remain on the card, just as long as he didn't disappoint his Irish countrymen flying over to watch him compete.

"It makes no difference to me,' said McGregor. "There were a few different options. 155 [pounds] was an option if the [Aldo] fight would have had to be rescheduled for seven weeks time, which is what they were telling me. I said, 'Well, there's a lot of Irish people coming over here, costs a lot of money here in Vegas, so as long as I'm fit and healthy it's only right to show up and fight.'

"I don't give a f**k. I'll be there, July 10, 145 pounds and July 11 I will have a gold belt wrapped around my waist. Everything else means nothing to me."

McGregor is, of course, hopeful Aldo makes the walk, but says he wouldn't need to adjust his gameplan for five rounds with Mendes.

"Who the f**k knows, eh? Who knows. Again, I know I'll be there. That's all I know. I'll whoop both of them on the same night, if need be. Whoever shows up to the Octagon will get beat. They're all the same to me.

"They throw the same shots, Chad and Jose. They're similar on the feet and in the wrestling. I feel they are similar style opponents. They're all the same to me. Don't even tell me. I'll show up at the scales and whoever's there is there. I don't need to know."

Despite Aldo's injured rib, McGregor says the champ has too much at stake not to compete on the night.

"It should be Jose," said McGregor. "Many people have stepped into the Octagon banged up. We're all banged up in some way. It's a bruised rib. Many people have stepped into the Octagon with that similar injury. There's pride on the line for him now. If it's sore and it's not broken and you're going to lose your belt if you step in and then you don't step in, that's fear. That's a weakness. He must show up and fight."

Oddly enough, McGregor says he's not planning to pounce on Aldo's injury once they get underway.

"I'm gonna go for the chin," said McGregor. "I want to knock him out. He doesn't need to worry about his ribs. I'm not going to go out and purposefully target an area. If he shows up and fights we'll fight as scheduled. I'm not going to start diving on things. I'm just going to fight my fight. It's the chin I'm hunting."

Conor is relentless :lol :hat

155 fight would have been dope though. You know Cowboy would have thrown down with dude at a moments notice.

The dude isn't some fortune teller.

Aldo has a reputation of getting hurt and his fights getting pushed back, that's why Conor probably said it.

I don't get all the " :smokin " at him taking a wild guess it would happen again

Does Romero look "different" to anyone else

Definitely ripped still but seems a bit less inflated

Idk if he looks different to me. He may be a little leaner but he still looks jacked to me.

Koscheck signed with Bellator.

Just read on MMAFighting that Aldo's head coach at Nova Uniao is saying that their doctors are saying his rib is fractured while the American/UFC doctor is saying its just a bruise. And that next week they'll make the final decision whether or not he fights. I'm no doctor but isn't there a huge difference between a fracture and bruise on a x-ray?

^ Right, fractures are way more severe, basically breakage of the bone. Bruises is more cosmetic with minor pain of the area around skin.

I want to hate Connor but I can't dude is funny trash talking man.

I can see the future, not him. I see aldo beating the dog crap out of that boy.

And if he does beat Aldo I can finally respect him for actually beating someone. He's fought a bunch of gate keepers and got a title shot. Frankie or Chad should have fought him before a title shot not Siver :{

I can respect his hustle he knows how to sell a fight. Now if he can back it up I'll give him major props. I'll be salty but can't hate if he's backing it all up

Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway are quality wins. Certainly not a Chad Mendes or Frankie Edgar, but formidable young prospects

If you look at Chad Mendes' road to a title shot, he beat Cub and a bunch of meh

If you look at Ricardo Lamas' road to a title shot, he beat Cub and a bunch of meh

If you look at Korean Zombie's road to a title shot, he beat Cub and a bunch of meh

The only point I buy is that Frankie deserved a title shot before Conor. Other than that Conor should have been after Frankie

very early cross-over match between legendary boxer jack dempsey & wrestler 'cowboy' luttrell (who mentored legend eddie graham)

warning: don't know if dempsey planned on going along with the work or not; or if it was a planned shoot...either way the violence is savage...enjoy! :Nthat
beating starts at 1:15...man dempsey could punch! jeez

***some say this is also a very early example of mma...so am posting in here too***

As for tonight, I'm a Machida fan, even when he was considered "boring" (funny how ELITE strikers attract that label the most :lol ), but kind of hoping Romero wins to keep the flow of great MW contenders we've been getting.

Though Machida did fight a good 2nd half against Weidman, I'd like to see Romero in the mix as dude is already pushing 40.

I misspoke. Korean Zombie lost two in a row to Lenoard Garcia and George Roop. He then went on to beat Garcia in a rematch, Hominick and Poirier

I'd consider that worse than Conor's resume

:eek @ Joe shilling getting schlumped

That Japanese guy was a sav with the superman punch
Small glove fighters :hat
