The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Brock's striking was terrible. And I doubt he's gonna get any better at it because he stubborn and stuck in his ways. Freddie Roach offered to help Brock with his boxing but Brock turned him down because he didn't wanna leave Minnesota where he was comfortable.

Brock needs to stay in wrestling. He had his run, I doubt he's going to be anything other than a big name draw for the UFC.

Phil Brooks/CM Punk is the only ex-WWE star we need to see get washed in a UFC ring this year.

A "safe" fight that would make sense for Brock would be someone like Josh Barnett or Frank Mir

Real wrestling v "fake" and of course the Mir trilogy

Maybe a fight with Bigfoot as a freak show match

A Bigfoot fight would be a good winnable fight for Brock. But if Bigfoot touches him with one of those things he calls hands, Brock will be back in WWE the next Monday night.

but brock was a legit collegiate champ in wrestling
i'm not saying he is gonna be champ again and beat cain (dont see anyone anytime soon), just interested to see what he can do when physically healthy

with the drug testing, big foot and overeem been exposed. have ya seen overeem, dude looks like he is a lightweight :x ariel helwani looked just as big doing the interview :lol

ps. i didnt even know he was still doing wwe. thought he just did main events like undertaker.
did he make more in wwe or ufc?

** **** is gonna get his salad tossed.

Still think Brock is using *** as negotiation tactic. Dude does nothing in WWE and gets paid handsomely. Be dumb to leave.

Pro wrestling is real too though. Didn't barnett and crocop do a few pro wrestling matches in Japan anyway?

I think Brock wants a rematch with Punk so he can beat him up again like at summerslam.

I'm just saying, he really has no chance against a TON of guys in the division and especially against the guys that actually matter. So there's no real point

Overeem, horsemeat or not would probably still handle Brock. You exaggerating saying he looks like a lightweight

I gotta agree there. Read something this week saying he was at an impasse with WWE over a new contract and walked out of a show. Then he appears last night at a UFC event. Probably trying to get WWE to raise their offer. Supposedly he only shows up at WWE shows once in a while, his contract says they have to fly him in and out from shows in a private jet, and he's making millions. Why give that up?

Regarding Overeem, yeah he's smaller now but his takedown defense isn't bad and he'd pick Lesnar apart standing.

People criticize Brock's mic skills but he still had the greatest post-fight interview of all time with rogan at ufc 100. Hilarious on so many levels.

YES

Brock is THAT DUDE but he gonna be humbled real quick when it matters

I love him though, and a fight with Mir to settle the trilogy would be GREAT IMO. A fight that actually makes sense for Brock

Is that the one when he said he's gonna get on top of his wife and drink Coors cause Bud doesn't pay him?

It was funny when helwani asked dana if Brock talked about mir and dana was like yeah.

Weird that mir is bigger bro / meathead than he is.

UFC 187 has the potential to be better than UFC 100

The original UFC 184 card was solid

Weidman v Vitor

Rousey v Cat

Jacare v Romero

Mir v Bigfoot

Ellenberger v Koscheck

Holm debut

Munoz

The people who keep saying Holm should fight Ronda or stands a chance cuz of her striking... last night was a split decision.

I didn't see how that fight could be scored for Rocky and one judge had it 30-27 Holm.

Holm needs a few more fights first, but assuming she doesn't do something as idiotic as Cat did last night, she could go a few rounds, which would be an upgrade.

I was surprised too that she won a round, the judge probably gave Pennington rounds for controling the center

I was SO unimpressed by Holly.
Granted she won every round but her striking is so golden gloves slappy amatuer -ish that it's sickening.

And she really has really bad head movement and defense for a "boxer/kick boxer"

Holly don't want those Ronda problems. Nope no way, not now, not later, not ever.

Have to keep in mind this was a huge first fight for Holm. To be a co main event on a PPV while being your first ever UFC fight has to be intense

Now with that said, you're absolutely right, Holm does not want it with Rousey

I get it . When I see a new face I try to keep that in mind and look for something (with my untrained amatuer eye) that I think the person can hang their hat on.
Something an opponent has to absolutely stay away from or take away.
I didn't see that from Holly.
Like if she was popping the jab or cracking that 1,2 ok.
But I didn't see it. Her head kick was hardly on target and was seen every time.
Who's going to respect her stand up game with those feather fists ?

That's one thing I was going to mention. She doesn't have a ton of power so Ronda doesn't even have to worry about wading through that to get into grappling range.

My point was simply that the scorecard from last night wasn't an indicator because I thought whoever scored it for Rocky was WAY off.

Holly definitely needs a few more fights before she gets into the Rousey convo.

But realistically, Cyborg is the only fight we all want to see. MAYBE Bethe gives her a run. Maybe an actual fight with Cat.

But it would seem that nobody really wants "Ronda problems" the way she's washing fighters that are, ultimately, the #1 contender at any given moment.

A good test for Holm will be Jessica Eye. I think that's the most logical next opponent

Holm doesn't strike me as that "hungry" to get the belt. More like she's just happy to be there and seeing where it goes. I don't think she honestly cares that much if she ever becomes champ. Which makes sense. She's a boxer first just trying something new. In every interview she is just like floating along

Lol so true!

Bruh, she beat the number 1 contender with a reverse arm bar that she had been "trying out" in camp
