If Ball turns out to be as good as OJ Mayo in the NBA would that be a failure or a success in your guys' opinion?

He reminds me a lot of Mayo in terms of high school hype, pac-12/10 area. 1-and-done. Mayo was a much better scorer but I just remember mayo being heralded as the second coming of Christ in high school and coming to USC was like if bron chose to go to duke or something, how that school would have been hyped that's how it was out here. Then in the L he was nice but not the second coming of Christ.

All that being said, if Lonzo or any Ball panned out to be just as good as OJ mayo, I think that could be considered wildly successful. I ain't talking about his dad's expectations, we all know what those are

It'll be interesting how that plays out. The coach seems reduced to a puppet in this situation. But the school needs to realize that chino hills basketball is still going to be there after the ball kids leave.

I wonder if he's going to throw Steve Alford under the bus at some point if the Bruins don't win tonight.

A little of both. He gets a lot of hype now but he's living up to it at the college level Mayo wasn't a floor general, Lonzo Ball is. If he can control the game now, at some point in the NBA you'd expect him to do the same. If he can't, then it's a definite disappointment.

#RecencyBias says that Lonzo was as hyped as much as OJ Mayo. Post LeBron, OJ might have had the most hype of any American HS Basketball player.

There HAVE been SOME players at that position that have flourished more in the NBA but to make a blanket statement that "NBA is usually easier than college for pgs" is wild and misleading

For every PG that you can name that played better in the NBA than college, I can name 50 that wasn't true for

I don't think it's meant to be taken literally.

In no context is the NBA easier than the college game. In no sport is professional competition easier than amateur competition.

But, in theory the transition might be easier for a point guard relative to other positions. They may be more likely to directly benefit from better structure, superior talent around them, and more floor space to work with in the NBA.

Is there any evidence that reveals which position has an "easier" transition from the NCAA to the NBA.

I know that isn't EXACTLY what the convo was but that is probably the best we willbe able to get in terms of data being available

The difference is defense. NBA they don't defend until the playoffs. Also the bs that is zone defense restricts them a bit. Especially for a guy like lonzo who excels in the open floor just watch.

All the great pgs who were good in college were even better in the nba so go ahead and name 50 scrubs if u can.
