The Combat Jack Show Thread

I imagine he should’ve tried to gather a better understanding of what the guy was apologizing for.

If I’m cool with someone and they randomly approach me offering an apology, I’m going to be all ears to find out what prompted it.

He probably tried a casual "apology". He shoulda approached him or called and told him first what it was then apologized.

So how would ya'll have handled that KMart situation? You been cool with somebody, they been in your house and around your family then you find out he was talking **** about you before ya'll got cool?

I think people got way too cool with this internet ****. You can't say whatever w/o getting checked. One day you might cross paths with that person you was talking **** about.

while i definitely think folk are too loose with how they discuss other people, these times attention is a kind of currency so being irreverent is incentivized & folk don’t think about the real world consequence(s) of not being really thoughtful about their criticism(s) of others; so if someone is a ‘personality’ in media, they are kinda signing up for that circus to some extent…having that as an understanding, i would maybe check the temperature on the person but mostly i’d charge it to the game because man didn’t know me to ‘owe’ any understanding. in this situation the guy didn’t really violate him on some fundamental personal level, it was a crass assessment of performance, it just happened to be something that kenyon is, by his own admission, sensitive about…

that’s what makes the whole thing clumsy, man did TRY to apologize (even if it was not explicit) & kenyon not only refused to accept it but also dismissed it without any curiosity as to why man was apologizing( 🤔😂 & now he is so aggrieved)…if man asked a single follow up question they could have been figured this out, i can imagine that buddy was not that enthusiastic about having to tell kmart this as it was, so being met with that response gave man an out

Honestly I'd probably brush it off at first too, like "ehh I'm not worried about that Internet ****". Because I don't think that person is going to go into full detail. Then come find out it's actually wild disrespectful and my mood will change.

He probably thought he was apologizing for bumping his car door or something small.

Kid probably was up all night thinking Kenyon was going to punch him when he saw him, when the reality was he didn't even see the video yet.

It could have been avoided if he pulled him to the side and explained himself and said it was before they were cool.

Man Kenyon a buffoon. He peaced it up with Jeremy Lin after Lin reversed it on him, after he tried to clown him.

To old to still be having all that anger and insecurity. He’s been successful more than half of his life at this point. Balled out at Cincy (shout out Steve Logan :hat :hat :hat) and had a long, lucrative career in the NBA.

I’m tired of these media people (whether ex entertainers or athletes or not) comfortable talking about others, but let someone talk about them and it’s a problem.

His new profession is to talk about other people:lol :lol :lol

So sick of these dudes acting like NO ONE can clown them, as they clown and critique everyone else. But, they’re off limits :rollin :rollin :lol

So what are you exactly upset about?

You feel that Kenyon shouldn't be insecure about his speech impediment, because he's sot of famous and has money? Maybe he's insecure because of people like that guy.

But I'm sure on the internet you'll say you aren't insecure about anything.

He didn't seem angry at all. He seemed like a dad.

Well I think the difference here is how seriously you take things. To me that speech impediment **** doesn't require all that and is something he needs to get over himself.

The things I would have to check someone on or cut them off over would justify the situation and me doing that.

It's not going to be over how a ***** talk

Basically I’m saying, he’s lived long enough to know how the game goes. He’s no longer a child. He’s lived with that insecurity his entire life.

We ALL have insecurities. The sooner we embrace them. The easier life goes. Damn right I have insecurities too. But me not understanding them at 17 years old is completely different than me at 38. I’ve been called long face, horse mouth, skinny, q-tip, etc. because I’ve always been a lanky dude. I knew how to play the dozens though. Absent of someone putting hands on me, I was always taught not to let every word or slight affect me.

Again, this is the same guy that criticized Jeremy Lin for having braids, while having Chinese tattoos. Lin could’ve EASILY picked on K-Mart for having that tick. That’s why Kenyon rarely liked doing postgame interviews. I remember it vividly.

ALLL I’m saying is, chances are, Kenyon has picked on someone else before because of their deficiencies.

Again, he’s the king of being able to dish it, and not take it. He’s ALWAYS been like this (of course I don’t know him personally) but, I’m speaking from the standpoint of a guy who’s watched and known about him since the late 90s when he played for Bob Huggins at Cincy.

You can’t tell someone how to not crack or joke on you. Ain’t no rules man. Nobody will convince me that Kenyon has never said an unsolicited joke about someone.

He’s that person that wants people to always watch what they say and do around him like he’s got home court advantage. House rules type cat. Easily offended. Man nobody is about to be around you, walking on egg shells just to appease your weak mentality

Slapbox with buddy and get a clean shot on him and he’s going to want to fight for real :lol :lol

Funny that people wouldn't have empathy for Kenyon when they were all just Tourettes experts.

Who are these people you speak of? I could care less about either of them having a speech impediment.

AZ one of my favorite emcees ever, is known to have a speech impediment. Again, Kenyon has lived long enough to realize that people don’t care. He’s 48, not 8 or eighteen…

He talked greasy about Jeremy Lin and shut up instantly after Lin flipped the script.

Dude is a part-time wussy, whenever the joke is on him!

I change my opinion, that dude is at least 40 years old and not young

Look at the comment section…

Again, people don’t have to appease you and play by YOUR rules when it’s convenient for you.

With that same token, Kenyon is 48 years old. Like I said earlier, we are ALL insecure about something. Me being insecure about something isn’t going to matter to a friend, let alone a stranger. That’s not how life goes man.

His new “way of making a living” is to talk about and critique ball players and various other entertainers.

How many of ya’ll have picked on, or laughed at someone who couldn’t read or was embarrassed to read out loud? I’ll wait….

He made that comment or joke in which it became public and Kenyon addressed him publicly.

Maybe in time he will accept the apology, but I didn’t have a problem with Kenyon's reaction. He was the victim.

Everything becomes if you like the person finessence finessence

When have I EVER said I disliked Kenyon? I’ve always been a fan.

What’s wrong with disagreeing with people that you like? I never said I didn’t like buddy. I hate people who pick and choose when to be defensive about a slight.

I see how you guys were raised. Take someone’s side, even if they are wrong :lol :lol

Cincinnati was the first Jordan school, so I naturally gravitated towards being a fan of dude. I remember him breaking his leg and all. Never said I disliked the cat. I just disagree with his crybaby a** every now and then

Dude your entire thing isn't the actual act. It's Kenyon as a player, Kenyon and Jeremy Lin. Everybody talks about everybody, so all of this should be ok.

Again, STILL haven’t answered my question. If he’s ever picked on someone, unwarranted or unsolicited, that invalidates everything he’s crying about.

I’ve picked on people before, therefore I could NEVER try and play victim.

I’ve been clowned for having long feet, being skinny, having a long face, not being super athletic, again, that’s life. We all get clowned.

Buddy is 48 years old. I mentioned Jeremy Lin because he himself tried to clown dude. Again, stop trying to justify this dude always crying.

He’s not innocent man. Again, the world doesn’t care about him having a damn stutter or twitch.

When someone’s belief system doesn’t align with his, he’s always complaining or trying to fight.
