Im on record stanning for Wale, but that’s pretty accurate. He’s done extensive damage to his reputation. At 10+ years in, sadly the music won’t be enough to erase people’s memories.
His peers, particularly the ones he tries his hardest to compete with like Kendrick/Cole/Drake, have done really well at keeping their emotions in check and allowing an allure of mystery to remain around them. Sucks to say that Wale just fumbled too many times in the public eye.
But I stand by what I said previously. Neither Drake nor Cole has an album better than The Album About Nothing.

I was just listening to Ed Lover's podcast on Monday and dude up there was obviously talking about Wale. That's how a lot of people feel.
Maybe if he came out early in his career and talked about his anxiety or issues he deals with besides acting bipolar or flipping out online, people would excuse it or root for him.
But nobody roots for Wale.
I ignore all the dumb ****, because I only care about the music.

Strictly on the music, Wale doesn't make better music his peers. His delivery is trash and songs aren't as catchy and melodic compared to Drake, not a top tier Lyricist or has the cohesiveness on his projects like Kendrick. J.Cole sounds and flows better on features than anything Wale has dropped.
He's had major mainstream looks and nobody cares about his music because they don't think it's that good. Everyone has their lane but he's not great at anything, so there's no reason to check for him. We've seen artists with PR nightmares like Tyga become the butt of jokes and comeback with bangers that get spins so it can't just be his image.

I do agree with Joe that if he was in a relationship with an r&b singer or whatever that he'd get more recognition. But yeah, he's unlikeable and i don't care to listen to his ****.
