who is @JimMweber and why is he going so hard :lol

Cats got the torches out... Broussard need to book a vacation before this really blows up

Man the NBAPA has to be hot when these great players take these huge discounts man.

Like, we did all this fighting during the last cba for this???
It should be against the rules
Explain how? What metric would be used to determine what is an isnt a discount. What is both Tim Duncan and the Spurs truly believe he's worth 5Ms a year?

What then?

Can't do that...it's their choice to take less, majority of players would never agree to a rule forcing them to take highest offer. That would actually give owners MORE power. Yeah taking less hurts the bargaining chips of other guys but you also have the Carmelo's, Lebron's, Kobe, and KD's of the world who have made it 100% clear they ain't taking a discount.

We all know hes not though

Didnt he make the all star game last year?

5 million for an all star? Come on now
Our anecdotes mean nothing though. No one can prove monetary value for a player.

Yes he did make the ASG last year. Tim Duncan is still a top 15-20 player in the NBA, doesnt mean that we can just use that to arbitrarily put a money value on his contract.

Are we supposed to force then to take high paying deals?

Although DeAndre Jordan can be paid $3.8M more by Clippers, California taxes makes his LA deal $1.7M less than Mavs deal, per @sportstaxman

Being in LA over Dallas is worth $1.7M less, no doubt. $1.7M is really chump change when you're making that type of money.

1.7 M per year so 5.1-6.8 M total after his contract. I don't think being LA is worth that much more than Dallas. But if you mean playing for the Clippers, I can definitely see why he took a hit.

You guys hate for broussard is clouding your judgement

Parsons had the plane ready. It was reports cuban was coming.

Cuban is a business man not a damn simp boyfriend who wont come around when his girlfriend tells him not to or not picking up the phone when shes getting piped by another dude

Even jehovah witnesses come knocking when you dont answer

You're joking right?

Broussard must have something real on someone very high up at ESPN. This isn't the first time he's been called out for giving out suspect information -- although this might be the highest profile instance of it. Plus, he's publicly made anti-gay remarks on numerous occasions and not even been reprimanded as far as I know. Most guys would have long ago been fired over that kind of stuff.
Wasn't really an attack on gays but everything else I agree with.

In hindsight, this situation shows how ridiculous this article was : http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2015/07/06/clippers-chris-paul-deandre-jordan-relationship-photos

In principle, DJ should've talked to Cuban man to man. However, in a business where you see grown men put on the block and moved around at the flick of the wrist for business reasons with often little to no explanation, it's nice to see someone go against the status quo.

I'm aware these dudes are making millions etc. but relatively speaking....

I was reading that as the entire deal, not yearly. But you're right, its yearly.

With that said, I'm still taking less to live in LA. Texas is whack. Sorry to offend anyone in Texas.

Tried to tell some Knicks fans that last season...

It really depends on the team and the situation. It can be worth it. The foundation of the Spurs success over the last two decades is the year they tanked to get into the Duncan sweepstakes.

That's an extreme case, but still. I generally think teams are better off sucking really bad for one or two years then being perennial low playoff seeds.

Surprised we haven't heard about more signings becoming official yet.

You'd think teams would be rushing players to sign this morning after what Deandre did :lol

He said homesexuality is a sin and in "open rebellion against God." I'd say those are pretty anti-gay statements. And I maintain that if someone else made those statements, the consequences likely would have been greater than they were for Broussard.
