I actually think the trade is good for the Bulls because of Hoiberg's systems of using the floor of high pick-n-rolls and spreading out the floor. On fastbreaks, they would play fast tempo and bringing the ball up the court, this would provide very quick offense.

Rose/Butler/Gay on on the floor together, has tons of potential to rival any backcourt.

And the article is actually from Woj, the Bulls site only found it from Woj.

Hasn't every team that traded away Gay gotten better?

The Grizz were not bad WITH Gay. You could probably make that case for Toronto (he and Derozan were not a good fit though), but its kinda overblown in Memphis considering we've been looking for someone to match his production since we traded him away. Getting HCA in 2012 during Zbo's injured year and starting the next season off with one of the best records in the league with him says something. People just use the WCF berth as Memphis getting better without considering the circumstances that helped get us there (the injuries).

Agree with this. Raptors seemed to gain from Gay's departure, but I think its arguable that the Grizz have been about the same after getting rid of Rudy. If they've improved since then, its only been marginally.

I was always against that Rudy Gay trade. Felt the Grizz dropped the ball on that one.

Random question but does Kobe wear a mouthpiece?

Conley and Marc improved due to having a higher usage rate, but who's to say a better coach could not implement this with Rudy still on the team? It just wasn't going to happen with Hollins because he sucked as an offensive coach.

I'm not denying his talent, but I'm a little wary of Gay.

I wouldn't be. I'll say look at his last year and a half in Sacramento and it shows he's maturing somewhat as a player. I'm sure someone will argue he's doing it on a losing team, but I think with the right players/coach he can duplicate the same success. His efficiency is much better even though his defense is still about the same. Defense should be the least of Chicago's worries if everyone is healthy.

Woj has no insiders at the Kings. He's been wrong damn near every time he talks about them. Unless Marc Spears reports it, don't believe it

And the report is from a Bulls website? shocker
OK, so I take it you'd be against that trade then?
i mean if the deal is right, i don't mind trading Gay. But i really don't think the Kings are even looking at trading him at all.

For McDermott and Gibson though? yea im not down with that and i doubt the Kings are either. Makes no sense. They have plenty of depth in the frontcourt now, why would they trade their starting SF and 2nd best player for another PF and Doug McDermott?

that rumor is a pipe dream.

There's nothing about Rudy that makes him seem like a particular good NBA player.

it was a terrible role in Toronto for Rudy. He was asked to do way too much. He isn't very good as THE MAN on the team, we saw that in Toronto and i've seen it happen in Sacramento when Cousins isn't playing.

But when he is playing a complementary role like he did in Memphis and like he does playing with Cousins, he can be very good. His numbers in Sacramento have been great

Sounds like someone who hasn't watched him since he was a Raptor

There was nothing seriously wrong with Rudy in Memphis or in Sacramento. His contract was the issue in Memphis and fit was the issue in Toronto. Rudy getting paid close to $20M made everyone expect him to be the man.

If you are going to tell me a guy with a 20 PER, 55% TS and scoring 20ppg on 15 shots makes him not a good NBA player, then what makes a good NBA player? :lol

The knock on him was always his efficiency and contract. Both of those issues have been fixed recently. He's on a damn good contract considering the new CBA.

Stats in Sacramento:

21ppg

5.9rpg

3.7apg

45%fg

thats numbers that put him among the top SFs in the league.

not a particularly good player though i guess

Gets to the line at a good rate, and was very good playing the four towards the end of last season. Ludicrous to say he isnt a good NBA player

Not a bad FT shooter either.

i suspect he will be playing a decent amount of PF again this season. Especially with the Kings having a lot of combinations that would make it work well. Like playing Ben Mac & Belinelli at the same time, or Collison/Rondo at the same time with Ben Mac or Belinelli at the 3 if they want to go really small. Or using Casspi, who played really good for George Karl last year, at the 3 with Rudy at 4
