This also happens to guys who stay 3-4 years in school too.for every elite talent there's a bunch of guys that do nothing for 3 years just toiling on a bench somewhere.
agreed. the system needs to be fixed. abolish the 1 year rule, build up the d-league and allow players in college to make money off their likeness. You need 30 teams.
This sharing of teams doesn't work.
But saying players only stay to boost their stock is false when cp3 couldve been a top 10 pick in that 03 & 04 draft
CP3 could of went top 10 out HS That's what your saying ?
No undersize pg outta hs going top 10
If Telfair goes to college, never develops a jumpshot and gets picked apart because he's a sub 6 foot guard without elite athleticism, then how does he benefit?
A 5'11 telfair got 13th & you telling me a 6'1 cp3 couldnt get top 10 out of hs when he was miles ahead of telfairNo undersize pg outta hs going top 10
I doubt tj ford or heinrich get selected before cp3
Exactly
So you're covering for GMs and front offices who make poor decisions? What about the kids who spend 3 years in school and get drafted and still are busts? That hurts the talent pool. These GMs are tracking these kids from the time that they're 14. We don't need an extra year to see that the kids are busts. That's faulty logic.
I still haven't see any reason why Telfair should have gone to college, him going to college doesn't mean he develops anything.
There is DEFINITELY pressure from ownership with who gets draftedExactly

Why is this being overlooked? Nobody is FORCING these GMs to draft them. There's no pressure from fans and ownership saying "Hey...draft Kwame Brown or else you're fired".
All these dudes go through the same evaluation process. If a GM thinks (insert teenager here) projects to be a better player than (insert imaginary NBA-ready upperclassman here)...who's fault is that?
We always here about the young guys that don't pan and why the rule is good. Well where's the rule that prevents Adam Morrison from happening?
Or maybe...JUST MAYBE...some guys pan out...some don't. Just like in EVERY sport regardless of an age limit.
You don't get better prepared for the NBA playing CBB, we go through this every year.
Only reason why a kid should ever stay is WCS last year, he got injured so his stock dropped.
Name me 1 player who's IMPROVED his stock by staying besides him?
Because I got a bunch of Marcus Smarts, Harrison Barnes and James Michael McAdoo's for you.
You guys are completely missing the point,
The benefit of the age limit isn't for the guys who would have come out of high school. It's the NBA product and the player pool overall. Because it will be higher quality as we have an extra year against tougher competition to see that these guys are busts (the Kwames of the world).
And I'm fine with that. Because the quality of play is better and better players get drafted higher.
