Sorry, man. I just don't see Dwight being the best anymore. He might have a slight edge over Marc in defense and rebounding, but Marc is way better offensively, so I give Marc the overall edge. And its not like Marc's production is coming out of nowhere. He's been closing in on Dwight for years. This is the year he caught and passed him. Not a knock on Dwight, just a testament to how well Marc is playing. DMC too.

I love Marc Gasol he's probably my favorite big in the league.People are so easily swayed by his spins fadeaways and post moves but the reality of it he shoots a lower percentage than Dwight and I haven't looked at the stats but I think it's only this year he's averaging more points than Dwight ,although He can run your offense from the high post and also hit free throws Dwight is still a better defender/rebounder.

Dwight hasnt improved while the center position has, dwight still living off the fact that he came up when the position was weak and yao & shaq was on the decline

Meh. Personally I don't think he is the best center in the league because he has the physical abilities but he doesn't use it. Plus dude waited this long into his career to develop/learn post moves and such. He isn't as dominant as he should be. At this point he is settled on being great center rather than the best. There are cats who don't have his athleticism yet they seem more dominant than him.

Hard to say Dwight is a better defender than Marc right now. He's a better shot blocker due to his athletic ability, but I think Marc TODAY is a much smarter defender.
bball iq = gasol
offensive game = gasol
passing ability = gasol
defense = i think its equal
rebounding = dwight
I think Marc's defensive presence was shown when the Grizz struggled without him last season on that end of the floor. Remember, they have two elite perimeter defenders in Conley, TA, a good defensive center in Koufos and Prince was receiving a lot of PT during that time period. Without Gasol, Memphis is not a top 10 defensive team (106.4 DRTG without him last season and allowed opponents to score over 100 points or more 10 times during that stretch he was out).
He's not the shot blocker Dwight is due to his lack of athleticism, but I'm not sure if any GM is taking Dwight over Marc right now. The "its not even close" part I wouldn't say all that, but I do think Marc is clearly the #1 center right now. But, Dwight could very well have a dominant 2nd half of the season and get ahead.
