I didn't see it, but that's actually smart basketball. Blocking the ball in play, to a teammate or where you can run it down. Something that you don't see very often, but Bill Russell was big on doing it because he knew that blocking a shot out of bounds keeps the possession with the opponent as opposed to it being a turnover.
