2002 BMW 325xit Wagon
56,450 miles
AWD
Automatic
no sunroof, manual seats
$13,995

Inspection revealed nothing major but a leaking valve cover, 1 bad tire, 1 window regulator that will fail soon (approx. $400 to fix) and some minor cosmetic issues.

Re-read this and tell me if it sounds like a good deal.

About to be a decade old BMW...no.

If it didn't have those problems, the $ would be right.. If you can get it for 2 grand under that, you'd have yourself a decent deal.

- car salesman here btw.

Trying to get it for Less than 14k obviously.

Miles are real low for a 9 year old car and I need the cargo room of the wagon and wanted AWD

Most used AWD wagons like subaru and volvo usually have super high miles. People tend to hand onto them.

Really wanted an A4 wagon but can't find one with mileage low enough

I have seen the service records, nothing major except for some replaced ignition coils and it had a coolant issue that was resolved.

Had it inspected at a BMW specialist shop. No dealer by me offered a PPI. It was a trade in a Lexus dealer

I'm not an expert but according to KBB that price seems high by about $3-4k.

I just purchased an A4 Avant. You can definitely find an Avant for wayyyy less than what you're considering right now. I got a 06 with 41,000 miles for 18k flat. Believe me, go on bmw/audi forums and craigslist. Just keep searching.

eh, you gonna pay 2-3k more at a stealership off top

how you think they eat?

thats why i asked, it seemed about that much too expensive.

if it had coolant issues, it prolly has a coolant gremlin

the very fact that we're saying these things to you

DONT DO IT

i found out the hard way man...if there is even .05% doubt

DONT DO IT

try to find a private dealer if you PPI/taking it to shops to get it looked at

youll automatically be bidding 2-3k less off top

AND you could haggle, say window/tire etc.

you right about people holding on to them UNTIL SOMETHING CRAZY IS ABOUT TO GO WRONG

The wife really wanted the car so I made a play for it.

They wouldn't budge from $12,800 with none of the problems fixed.

I walked.

Wife is now angry with me but I told her I can't do the deal if the price isn't right for that old of a car.

Thanks for all the help everybody.
