No one person is the greatest imo. People like Pac, Biggie, Rakim, KRS-One, etc each brought something different to the table. They helped revolutionize the whole movement. Saying one is better than the other is just weird. Btw, there's a reason why so many people consider Tupac as the greatest ever......'cause he paints pictures with his lyrics. I've read lyrics by him that one of my English teacher brought to class that I like a lot more than the poems we read out of text books.

zokid- X and Pac cry on there rhymes? LOL...i'm the type who rather listen to someone paint me a picture and make you feel his music and that's what they did IMO...like i said it is all up to what YOU like....no one is saying it has to be emotion>talent....it's all a personal choice
YardFather- Em is in my top 5 FOR SURE...so I agree 100% on that...i said Pac and X with the emotion bc it just stands out more for them...but no doubt em is there
and Pac ain't the only rapper who's came out with bad music....Nas is in my top 5 also but can you tell me he doesn't have bad music? He has the most bad music to be mentioned with the other GOATs
and Pac overrated? I ain't gettin into this again but IMO Biggie is BY FAR the most overrated rapper ever....but there is no point in arguing this anymore
P.S. - Lord Knows is a @+%$!@ song? LOL....I just don't get some of y'all...GRODT over MATW?
To keep it funky this _ made some trash @!@ music that gets overlooked.
theres NO way he was even close to G.O.A.T...hell id put PUN before PAC

"I'll probably NEVER get the props I feel I ever deserve
But I'll never be served, my spot is forever reserved"
What a shame....Should be in everyone's top 10 DOA

Because of the man pictured above.
but he's the most influential.
Once again that title belongs to the man pictured above.
No one, before or after Rakim has influenced as many rappers to shift their direction. That man redisigned the landscape of rap, and forced others to adapt.
{KRS ONE} cause while you respect Tupac, Tupac respected me {KRS ONE}
It's just a discussion about music. No need to take it personally ... lolOriginally Posted by abeautifulhaze

How do you know that? Please Pac is far more remembered than Biggie. People act like Pac wasn't liked when he passed. LOL. Did his death make himmore popular? Sure...but if he is still listened to almost 12 years later....there is a reason.....Originally Posted by PeterJamesThe3rd

But here's my reasoning .... feel free to give yours why he isn't the best
1. I think its a pretty common knowledge that Eminem is the best lyricist (Wordplay, Breath Control, etc ...)
2. He has shown the most emotion of any rapper (DMX maybe?, no one else comes close)
3. He dropped arguably 3 classic albums (Yes, Jay dropped 3 arguably classic albums as well) ... but to my knowledge no one has dropped 4.
4. He was the first to successfully break the "color barrier" in hip-hop
5. He is the only rapper to have 2 diamond albums (I know sales don't mean everything, but you don't just stumble upon two diamond albums.)
6. He has created some of the greatest diss tracks ever (Nail In The Coffin, Hail Mary, The Sauce, I Remember)
7. He is one of the greatest freestylers ever (2nd in the rap olympics) (see video below)
8. He's helped establish other hip-hop giants (50 Cent, G-Unit, D-12 (maybe a reach))
9. We've seen him grow and mature through his career (can be said for many artists as well)
10. Last but certainly not least, Name me ONE person who has outshined him on a track ....
.................. He's outshined: Jay-Z, Biggie, 2Pac, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and The Game to name a few ....
and for the nail in the coffin (pun intended) .... keep in mind that this is a freestyle
Pay attention from 1:00 on ....
Like I said, feel free to tell my why you disagree ... this is a discussion afterall
EDIT: I thought of a few more ... haha

Thank you sir, great to see someone on NT back up there opinion with good reasons, not to mention 10.
I was going to make a topic explaining why Em is THE GOAT, but I don't need to anymore, you just did it for me.
Yeah Encore wasn't as good as his previous three albums, but it wasn't bad. There were some great tracks on it and it is still far and beyond betterthan most work being put out now. When you have THREE classic albums in a row, yes three, it's damn near impossible to follow them up with another.
Tell me, how can you NOT think Tupac is the G.O.A.T
Because he isn't. It's just that simple.
There are at least 5 MC's I would put before pac...
Jay, Big, Rakim, Nas, Krs-One...

Pick any 1 song on this album.....and you'll probably find more gems than in Pacs entire discography.
Stillmatic is the album Pac would have made if he had Nas's level of lyrical skill....but he was never anywhere close. There is alot of Pac influence on this album though.
If we are talking about strictly Hip-Hop music and not image, legend, legacy, etc...Pac never even put out an album on the level of....
With all of that being said...he's in my top 10.
