Got a pair of 2000 medicine ball trainer III's in today and to my surprise the 2003 release is a tad darker with other slight differences. I snapped aquick shot with the 2003 release on the left and 2000 release on the right. I'll take a few more comparison pics and post them when i get the chance. Gotthese '99 SC HI's in the other day. OG color blocking at it's best.

yeah wally, it probably is coming from the black stitching. i've seen it happen before and that was the eventual conclusion.

FreshKicks95, I can't tell by the pic you posted that one is darker. I guess I never noticed when I had both the 00 and 03 medi III's, I think I mayhave sold you one actually, im not sure, but I know that the 00's fit a little more snug than the 03's. Thats the only thing I noticed. I hope they getit right later on this year.

heelinToe, youll regret ever owning those lol. the sockliner is so soft and has an extremely comfortable feel to it, that it just teases you knowing that itsunwearable.. Vintage pieces just arent my thing anymore..

Freshkicks95, good info on the 03 and 00. its weird but the actual style code is the same, which is not the norm for retros.

opinions may differ on what was shown as the sample med ball trainer for fall 09 release:

-Using the same perforated leather with larger holes and wider spacing as seen with the other 09 retros, which compares in no way to the OG or 00, 03 retros..
-Surprisingly the tan color is darker on these matching the OGs just a bit better than the 00,03 retros, but they got back a step with a ginger like plasticstrapping that is DARKER than the retros, and as we all know the OGs were strictly white based plastic with a darker tan color...

So in essence, we will soon have three variations of the med. ball trainer released with nike doing their "close enough" rountine we all have to liveby.

eeBS7eez, ive actually messed around painting two various air trainers.. none ofwhich were the 00 trainers. ill let those age naturally as they dont tend to have a flaking issue.

first was a 00 atIII:
-midsole was flaking like crazy... top shot there..
-bottom shot shows a newly repainted pair after about 6 wears and 6 miles of wear... better than or near nike quality.

2002 at1 chlorophyll. just one shoe had some massive paint chipping.. only 2-3 wears yielded terrible results

AFTER: new quick paint job...worn about 5-6 times already and its ahead of nikes detteriration

-Overall im very happy with these temporary results. its the best I could do

Wally....thank goodness they're 2 full sizes too small. The insole is super soft and because the age very delicate. You're right. I would've dustedem in 2 seconds flat.

hey guys. just thought id share some photos of a recent restoration I did.

BEFORE on left.. AFTER on right

-received this pair about 2 weeks ago. I immediately went the route of using tooth whitening gel and used it almost every day.. Nice results imo. I used somebasic scotch tape to cover the surrounding leather and suede and then followed the instructions on the tooth whitening gel.

I have no idea how long they had been this yellowed. so it was quite the risk.

It's almost to a point now where its unnoticeable that any yellowing had occured. its a shade of white/yellow that is more in lines with a vintage look andblends in with the aged midsole/leather white colors...

another retro air trainer saved.. bought at a bargain. i saw the potential when others passed it off and it paid off.

those bring back memories. back then, nike wasn't even really that known of a brand around my way.. people were still bigging up adidas and converse.

Started on Sunday the 29th... 2 applications for 30 min. each
30th 2 appl. 30 min each

Its been nothing like a consistent two times a day for two weeks as the back of the tube says but Ill still cover them... i'll probably go another week ofonce a day and call it quits.

nice cris, a shoe i really wished came with the '00 quality. i've still been really close to buying it on a lot of occasions, but the pieces justhaven't fell together yet. wally, i'm trying the whitening gel method on the laney's, if all goes well this is something that should get sharedwith the restoration community.

Wally, planning on UNDS'ing these, and was wondering how well it holds up for casual walking? How does the paint hold up on the midsole? Thanks boss!!

uh oh.. what sz are those? they're looking awfully big. we may need to work out a deal lol.

the few pairs that ive unDSed recently have held up just fine. as they age, they dont "chip" or "flake". the midsoles just 'crease'and over time the midsole has that cracking paint apperance, but more often than not, youll see the paint penetrating the foam and it getting yellow that way.later retro trainers appear to have visible paint peeling



some cases of paint "cracking":
-the BAD first... visible pieces of paint not only cracking but peeling to the touch.

2002 retros worn maybe 15-20 times, and the chipping just getting worse and worse with no end in sight.

lastly some 00 varsity reds used worn and used im guessing hundreds of times throughout the years. the "chipping" has peaked, as this is the worst:

-cracking in theory has ocurred, but the midsole is smooth to the touch. A big difference from the chipping that occurs after just 2-3 wears of the recent eraof retros

-my other trainer 00s show different signs of aging.. midsole paint slowly penetrating into the midsole and yellowing naturally. minor paint cracking all overthe midsole:

I have a few more used 2000 trainers that I could post, but the majority are like the pairs above. one pair is alittle worse than these two posted above, butnothing as severe as the first 02 trainer pair.

hope that covers your question.. im a visual learner so thats why you always see tons of photos. how do you describe paint chipping in words lol

They run true, go your usual size. The 1s run size smaller.
