Taxi 12's - December '13

I think ima end up passing on these, they looked really dope, but then I saw the actual shoe and the snake skin type leather all over the shoe and it made me not like it. I love the simple black/white colorway and the design, it goes great with everything, but the texture look that the snake skin gives it turned me off. Looks like I'll be trying to cop tbe Toro Bravo 4's, Varsity Red 4's, or both Bred and White Cement 89' Retro 1's since I've seen them for $115 shipped each if I pass on the Gamma Blue 11's but I'll have to see.

You mean the reptile texture on the black part of the upper? I thought it was two different types of leather unless they changed it to all over. 
 
From what I've been told by both the guys I talked to at FA and FL, they should fit tts. I don't know how much i'd trust them tho, so if anyone has any first hand experience, chime in.

you talking about the tumbled leather? IMO the quality on these are looking great
 
puremichigan puremichigan nyknicks207 nyknicks207 from what I saw, the black part (texture/material/look) he referred to it as snake skin. Whether it's actually snake skin or reptile texture I'm not sure, I just don't like how it doesn't stay only on the black part and looks like it is all over the shoe. If it would have only been on the black part that would be cool to give it some contrast and so on. But the white part seems to be bumpy looking like the black part, all over the shoe and I don't like the look of it. I would have wanted regular smooth leather for the white part or the leather they use on the black cement 3's. The quality sure looks on point and probably better than most retro's being released lately. If you don't care about the minor texture/look issue but me seeing it bothered me, and I feel like everyone will see white bumps all over my shoe when rocking it and I don't want that so I'm most likely passing. I may change my mind, it being a classic weighs heavy on my heart lol, but as of right now I'm thinking that I'm passing and getting something older that I do like the look of and already released wbichbI wasn't able to cop the first time.

Must have release for me. Nothing like a OG colorway. Plotting my pair now. No Double up. No resell pair. One and done.

I have OG's and I've also had a snake. Have you ever seen a basketball? Clearly it is not.

I actually do feel like some people may ask me "why do your shoes made of basketball materials?" It's just not a good look while on feet, maybe if you keep them on ice and DS them forever in your collection that would be cool since the colorway is dope and it's a classic. But I don't have money to double up on my shoes, and well I can't rock something that doesn't appeal to me because of the basketball material look all over even if it's officially snake skin or reptilian I don't care. Magic33 Magic33 that picture you posted perfectly describes how it looks all over, I wouldn't mind it strictly on the black part of the shoe to give it that nice contrast, but I wish the white part of the shoe woukd have been a nice smooth and soft leather so it wouldn't look bumpy all over like it has little balls over the entire shoe popping up.

Its clearly NOT if many of us were fooled. Ive had 12s and always thought it was meant to be like a basketball as well. Even looking up close and feeling I still assumed it was meant for a basketball.

So this snakeskin talk is news to me as well. Doesnt matter honestly but its a nice fact to know. I could give 2 s**** what its suppose to resemble

I could care less if it's snake skin, reptilian leather, basketball leather, I just wished whatever the special leather is stayed on the black and the white part was smooth softish leather. A lot of these pictures are deceiving and look great, but I don't think they emphasize how the white part is covered in that "special leather" as well which turned me off.

these would be copped if the insanity that is JB releases wasnt a problem but my low top 04s will do for now unless i can scoop for cheap but even then i might pass, gunnin hard for black/red 1s though

Exactly, now I want to know if this actually the case, or if this is some sort of reinvention.

I've always heard it described as pebbled leather, which is a basketball.
