I think he’ll go as an independent knowing he can be on the docket longer, meaning more attention for longer with zero expectations. He’s 100% a Republican plant, proof is all over the place about that. Republican Party knows they’re in deep trouble for generations to come and will need to pull all the stops to get votes off the democratic side.
