Eh, they don't "need" Logan, they can use Temuera Morrison if they want. But really, it could be anybody in that suit, Fett doesn't ever have to take his helmet off. (I honestly hope he doesn't) but it depends on how they want to tell his story.

They should treat Fett 100% like how they did Kyle Urban from the last Dredd movie. His face should be completely irrelevant.

The Raid Stars Join Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens just advanced a bunch of spots on our list of most anticipated movies of 2015. All of you who were shocked to see the upcoming “Episode VII” only place at #12 instead of #1 can rest easy today. We were obviously just keeping things in perspective so that we’d have room for growth when the movie dropped its next casting bombshell. And here it is: according to Twitch, three stars of Gareth Evans’s The Raid movies have joined the ensemble in J.J. Abrams‘s Star Wars sequel. Hell yes.

Those leaping into the Galaxy Far Far Away are lead ***-kicker Iko Uwais along with Yayan Ruhian (“Mad Dog” in The Raid: Redemption and “Prakoso” in The Raid 2) and Cecep Arif Rahman (“The Assassin” in The Raid 2). There’s no information on who or what they’ll be playing, but we can assume that this late in the game they’re not major characters. Chances are they’re making cameos for some sure-to-be-great action set-piece where they’re showing off their martial arts skills, maybe while wielding lightsabers.

In the report at Twitch, the trio’s casting is chalked up to Abrams’s clear preference with The Force Awakens to do more practical effects than CGI, to be closer in spirit to the original Star Wars trilogy versus the prequels. But their involvement also reminds me of The Phantom Menace featuring martial artist and stuntman Ray Park flipping about as Darth Maul. If anything, it’s just more proof that this episode is going to be awesome, in part thanks to its casting of all our favorite action stars of things from 2011 — others being John Boyega of Attack the Block, Andy Serkis of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones (never mind that she didn’t join the cast until 2012).

Awesome news, and really, they don't have to be Sith or Jedi, just having them do stunts as Stormtroopers would be enough for me.

Both Raids were excellent films in terms of stunts/action, anything they can add to this is a plus.

Anybody else highkey wishing the lightsaber fights in the new movies are more like the ones from the old trilogy than the prequel trilogy?

I don't hate any of the prequel lightsaber fights but I, too, preferred lightsaber duels to be more like medieval sword fighting. I remember reading lightsabers were supposed to be heavy and that's how it looked in the OT. Of course, the Jedi were in their prime in the PT, so who knows.

Jedi/Sith are supposed to be these ridiculous powerful warriors, let them jump and flip and dive and fight with blades whirling and spinning, etc. Look at the Old Republic Video Games, things like that.

Yoda was the only one that bothered me in terms of lightsaber fighting. That was just ridiculous and too much. But the Ben/Anakin battle, Maul, etc were all great.

yea only decent parts of the movie.. the fight choreography..

the original 3 were kinda limited with what they could do with the graphics and all that..

and even though the prequel fights now seem dated, graphics wise.. as you mentioned they did a lot more.. and used the force more during battles.. and had those dudes wielding their weapons more realistically for individuals with their abilities

I agree I'd love to see some more force incorporated in the battles.

Not Force Unleashed level but just something to really show how powerful these guys are

The QuiGon/ObiWan/Maul fight from the first one was dope but it looked too rehearsed. It wasn't until that final part after Maul and Obi Wan went one on one that it got really good and that was because they started swinging for the fences instead of being finesse.

Episode 2 doesn't really have anything memorable except the surprise that Yoda had skills like that but also, it was just too over the top.

Ep. III dropped the ball on that Obi Wan/ Gen. Grievous duel but I really enjoyed the overall fight between Yoda and Palpatine. And I think the Obi-Wan vs. Anakin duel lived up to the hype but still, this was pretty stupid?

It wasn't necessarily washed up, I believe the explanation with Luke was moreso "lack of full training". Still a beginner, etc. You notice from Empire to Jedi, he had improved with his skills, and the movies show that.

Vader was also much more Mind Force than lightsaber dueling as well.


I actually do buy the explanation, even tho, as we know, it was more to do with the 70's brand of filmmaking than actual storyline, but it was a good enough reasoning to go with.

to be fair, you're comparing them in their primes to 20+ years later. Obi-Wan was so old he was always looking for a place to sit and Vader's on rusty stilts and an arm
