it said it spans 3 different eras so it does fit the timeline
need heroes to die like soldiers though. no more kneeling down and disappearing
and it is cannonbut ea does a terrible job at keeping it canon when they try to make it like halo

Picked up my copy of Thrawn last night. 
I'm missing the last Aftermath book (waiting for paperback on that one) but my collection is pretty stacked as of now.
