They can't be worse than the 3 most recent ones. Those took a dump on everything with the bad acting, writing, script, and special effects :{.

they need to remake the prequels or reboot the begining.

only bring back liam neeson, ian mcdiarmid, and ewan mcgregor. recast the rest

Aww man, The Clone Wars cartoon is going to end. My son & I watch that together. It's really done well. I tried embedding the video the post had but don't think it's going to work so if your interested in watching the vid from Dave Filoni, the supervising director of the Clone Wars cartoon, check out the link...

New ‘Star Wars’ Animated Series Coming, ‘Detours’ Postponed And ‘The Clone Wars’ To End
Posted on Monday, March 11th, 2013 by Germain Lussier

As J.J. Abrams and crew are hard at work on Star Wars Episode VII, the rest of the Lucasfilm team has decided to completely rethink their animated division. The biggest news is a new Star Wars animated series is in the works “set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming.”

In addition, The Clone Wars will begin to “wind down” with a few final story lines and the controversial comedy series Detours has been postponed. Read more below.

Here’s the official statement from Lucasfilm:

As we enter into an exciting new era focused on the next Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm has decided to pursue a new direction in animated programming. We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming. You can expect more details in the months to come.

As part of this shift, we have also made some key decisions affecting Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Detours.

After five highly successful and critically acclaimed seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we feel the time has come to wind down the series. While the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we’re continuing production on new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen. Stay tuned for more information on where fans can soon find this bonus content. In the video below, Supervising Director Dave Filoni offers a peek of what is to come in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

At Star Wars Celebration VI last year, George Lucas gave fans a glimpse at the animated comedy series Star Wars Detours from Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, and Todd Grimes. Detours was conceived and produced before we decided to move forward with the new Star Wars trilogy, and in the wake of that decision, Lucasfilm has reconsidered whether launching an animated comedy prior to the launch of Episode VII makes sense. As a result, we’ve decided to postpone the release of Detours until a later date.

We are incredibly proud of the teams at Lucasfilm Animation for creating some of the most amazing animation ever produced for TV. Keep checking StarWars.com for new developments on these and future projects.

I really don't think they need to make any cartoons for a while.

Clone Wars was more to make up for the idiocy of the perquel triliogies, had he done the ****** movies right he wouldn't have needed any cartoons of a war we already knew about.

The amount of movies they have a chance to work on means they shouldn't need to worry one bit about "extra" stuff outside of video game tie ins and book tie ins, etc.

The TV show, cartoons, etc should all be shelved really, at least for now.

HOWEVER...........I wonder, with the clout that they have at Disney.........I wonder if at some point they couldn't have a Star Wars channel. They have 5 seasons of Clone Wars, + 2 other seasons of a different Clone Wars storyline, 6 movies, with 3 + others on the way, possbile material for another animated show they have shelved, talk of a live action series with close to 50 episodes was already mapped out.........in a few years, I wonder if they would put a full channel out there 24/7. Half their material on the actual Disney channel is all repeat anyways, why not?

Disney, call me. :lol

hopefully, they'll at least make some new Clone Wars episodes direct-to-DVD or a special TV movie just to end the series / wrap up loose ends so Clone Wars "flows" into the beginning of Episode III for continuity sake.

The ending of Genndy Tartakovsky's animated "Star Wars: Clone Wars" (2003-2005) did a good job of leading into the opening scene of Episode III. In many ways, I like Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars better . . .

clone wars movie

dont forget the garbage ewok movies :lol

also the r2d2 cp30 cartoon and the ewoks cartoon from the 80's

the behind the scenes docs and r2d2 and ewok parodies

play the movie Fanboys every once and a while :lol

star wars christmas special (good god i will not watch it unless they edit out chewbaccas son)

they could even have special original cut nights with them showing the original trilogy in original form.

plus it would be so easy for them to create original programs for the channel like trivia game show and a reality show with old star wars cast members eating cow balls and scorpions...

star wars convention coverage and talk show

I am still hoping for a super hero channel before that. way too much comic and super hero stuff for a channel out there

That was a sick read. I can't even begin to imagine how this has impacted Lucas' life and hope he doesn't go into a depression at some point.

I remember the days of when I would search day and night for Episode 1 info when it first surfaced. I've still been a die hard SW fan but don't even know if I can handle the stress of devoting as much time to it as I used to. That's why I have been nonexistent in this thread.

But screw it. That article brought goosebumps. It's on. :hat

I picked up the last 3 books of the Legacy of the Force era and should be done with them sometime in the summer. They finish off about 45 years or so after Jedi, putting Han and co in their 70's I believe. Maybe late 60's. Stuff like that is in play for Ep VII

This will be perfect :hat

Have you read the Jedi Path training book? I've wanted that for a while. The notes and stuff inside are right up my geeky alley.

I've only read the main novels that advance the original storylines. I have never gotten into the Essential Guide's or any of that, yet. Figured I would someday. Not sure now.

I didn't realize there is well over 100 episodes of the Clone Wars. 22 ep per season. That's a lot of damn material.

Damn, that's a damn good idea. Making of features. Where are they nows? Could have a half hour interview show, documentaries that have aired. E true Hollywood story type stuff. They could absolutely have a channel dedicated to Star Wars.

And I agree completely on a Superheroes channel as well. WB and Marvel. Cartoon, movies, shows, reruns, etc. I love the idea.

Superheroes channel would be amazing.

Mandatory showing of a Star Wars movie every Friday at Midnight. :smokin

That'd be awesome. I love leaving my tv on SpikeTV during any holidays and just seeing the SW saga on all weekend. :lol

YES MANNNN ill wake up watch some Ep 1 go do whatever all day and when I get back to chill Jedi will be coming on :hat

Happy about new movies but what's up with KOTR III???

I need some casting to start taking place for Jacen, Jaina, Anakin......Thrawn, Dalaa, Mara, etc. I want to know where we're going.

The upcoming issue of Empire will have JJ Abrams & Star Trek. The feature is 75 pages & he talks about Star Wars. I'm so geeked about him taking the reigns. He's going to smash it out of the park. I love what he's done, what he's capable of doing, & that he's treating this with the reverence it deserves. I love the fact that Kennedy kept going at him & then got Spielberg to talk to him. How could you say no after all that? :smokin

You absolutely won't be happy til my fingers start bleeding will you? :lol

Challenge accepted.

Do you really want to know this stuff tho? 8o

Mara = an important woman. If you really want to know who she is, I'll tell you, but it's better to wait and be surprised. Either way, she's a bad *** chick. In theory, think Renee Russo, Lethal Weapon 3ish. Clearly that won't work now. Chastain maybe? Has to be a red head that is stunning, but can kick the crap out of you. It could be a broad I don't even know yet.

The kids, Jacen, Jaina, Anakin, that's tricky. Are we doin this when they are 4? 14? 18? 25? Gotta let me know that part before I can cast them. But they = HUGELY important in time. Jacen and Jaina are twins, but so were Luke and Leia, so it may not be a big issue other than they both have to be white. But they have a storyline that will make things rise.

Now Dalaa, she could be Russoish as well. Even a little older version, but she may be too far gone at this point. Need a red head in her 30's to 40's, she doesn't have to kick ***, but she does need to look good, and be fierce. She needs to hold her own acting wise, and fit in a tight suit. Can't be havin January Jones with red hair here, need it to be real.

Now Thrawn.........if we get Thrawn........let me put it this way, IF, we get Thrawn, if that happens, them last 3 joints won't ever be spoke of again. Thrawn is everything. He could be one of thee most awesome characters we ever see, IF they do him justice. Who we select, won't matter race wise, the dude is blue, so it could be Jennifer Lawrence for all I care. He's gonna need to be regal as ****. Black hair, slick. His eyes will be red, so contacts handle that. Imposing, but not ridiculous, he's regal, same as Dalaa.

As an idea.

Way not happening, but give me Christian Bale and I'll drop the mic. Bale would do the **** out of this role. But I get the feeling, Star Wars is going to go young, unknown types that will last for several several years with these projects. Thrawn could be in a triliogy, and then be used later in additional projects, younger, older, either way. He has to be casted right. Otherwise, they'll need multiple actors young and old. Robert Downey would fit the bill too, but he's too short, and too old surely.

Talon Karrde comes into play if Mara gets cast. Liam Neeson would have worked, but they ruined that. Older gentlemen, swift, smart and savvy more than "tough" Could be any number of old dudes, probably don't even need a big name, but a strong presence would be good. Hold his own acting wise, he'll need to speak quickly, yet not say much. He's an awesome character.

Rooney is way too young. Way too young.

She'll need to be younger than Luke, but not by that damn much. Luke gon be lookin like Jerry Buss right there man, ****. :lol
