“Many also took exception with the portrayal of Luke Skywalker, who was reintroduced for the first time since Return of the Jedi (save for the tease at the end of The Force Awakens) as a disillusioned hermit who'd cut himself off from the Force.”

blame that on JJ :pimp:

Also, Alan Dean Fosters “treatment” for ep 9:

 Mans wanted cyborg Jedi. I won't knock it.

Definitely blaming Luke on both JJ and Rian. Not that it matters a lot to me either way.

Fans shouldn't blame anyone but themselves for Luke. They wanted 65-70 year old actors to return, they got those and the limitations they create.

If you wanted Elite Luke, you should have demanded recasting and not 30 year jumps.

What? :lol

Don't matter how old Hamil is. Luke could've been portrayed as an old badass.

He was not.

Also would've made no sense to recast Luke for the sequels.

Just finished the mando season 2. i thought season 1 was just okay.

but this right here was top level. when luke came back..... wow. :pimp:

I always tell people, shows like Cobra Kai and even the Creed movies show it's not rocket science when people in charge don't try to outsmart the core fans by "subverting expectations" and just tell a story with new characters by still respecting the old ones. You can like or hate the movie, I've given up on that discussion. But Luke could've and "should've" been handled better.

Han was still Han and Leia was still Leia. But you can't defend Jake Skywalker wasn't trash and a waste. Now, you don't need to be spoonfed everything but if you also need multiple hour long videos on Youtube trying to justify to you that he's the same character, then that's whack.

Hell, Boba Fett WAS Boba Fett in Mando season 2. He doesn't do **** in the entire OT but nobody was saying that's not Boba Fett:lol

I was 100% fine with the way Luke was handled. It didn't bother me because I don't care what anyone says, he's a 65-70 year old guy, he wasn't gonna be doin backflips & **** out there.

He became Obi Wan. An old Jedi hermit. And he was still more powerful than any of the other Jedi we'd ever seen. And people were pissed anyways. They just wanted fanservice and to see an old man be some sort of bad *** without realizing the logistics of that are impossible. Early 50's Tom Cruise/Keanu Reeves level, sure, but not 65+ age Mark Hamill. (Or Harrison Ford really)

Luke had the greatest showing of force powers ever committed to film 🥰🥰🥰

But Luke wasn't old. If he was early 20's in ROTJ +30 until TFA = early 50's. Qui Gon was 60 in TPM and Dooku was getting the better of Yoda and washing Clones at like 87 years old. Mace is up there too, so what's age got to do with it?

GOAT Jedi of all-time dies alone on a rock at age 52 doing a hologram trick is just lame to me. I respect it's canon though, so I've never complained. But I'm just expressing my opinion it was trash.

This is the clear division between you and Luke fans.

From actions, motivations, attitude, etc. there was a lot for them not to be fine with.

:lol Nobody wanted a backflipping Luke. Ain't like he did it in the OG.

Don't need to be doing backflips to be a badass.

Plus it's not like ppl were expecting a Luke that wasn't going to be old.

You're excuses for the portrayal of Luke remain weird.

From my observations, the people who like and defend Luke always use NT Extremes of their own made up excuses. They be like you're just mad because Luke didn't Force Crush a Star Destroyer with his left hand or do a lightsaber throw across the galaxy to kill Snoke from Ahch-To:lol:

Mark Hamill is a 65+ year old man, bro. I don't care what Luke's imaginary age is. :lol

The PRACTICAL issue of the actor is the point. Not the character.

Which original character(s) were not botched in the sequels?

Lando?
Chewy?
And R2

That's it.

Again you talking like Luke Skywalker is suppose to be some parkour master 10× ninja warrior champion. He's not Spider-Man.

Mark Hamill is an ACTOR. They didn't even give him any material to work with.

The same actions he did in the Mandalorian s2 finale could've been done by a 90 year old Hamill.

There's no surprise right now #ThankYouDaveAndJon is trending on Twitter

Random but seeing the timeline like this made me wonder how they didn't update their tech in that universe. It's like their 2020 and they still beep boop boppin buttons on a black and white tube tv.

I get what they trying to do but if you change the 19 to a 17 it makes more sense for all the upheaval.

Was a damn shame they didn’t let Mark do anything in 7 but stand on a rock while all his peoples died over a decade long period.

JJ couldn’t give Han/Luke/Leia even one scene together before killing Han off 🤔
