Stadia Vol. Google changing the game ?

Opted-in to the beta at the start of January so I didn't have to pay to play nor download the new Assassin's Creed, it's actually as smooth as they say it is.

I pay for 300 down and with only a few graphical hiccups the game was stable the entire time and after awhile I would forget I was even running it. They gave it to me for free at the end.

Look interesting, curious to see for how long Google will support it. Definitely keep an eye out for this.

Any indication on whether payment will be subscription or usage based?

I have no clue and haven't really read what their model was. Only beta tested when I could.

Wouldnt be surprised at all if its subscription based though, possibly usage based for power gamers who exceed a certain threshold

Doubtful this succeeds.

Latency, input lag, internet speeds, and data caps are gonna be hurdles.

Latency and input lag was like playing on my own xbox but the data caps are facts.

**** will eat your monthly usage alive

But won't the amount of users slow things down? Like you were on a beta with im assuming a super limited number of people

I watched the short version of the presentation with their "its on the backbone of google" So people won't be slowed down. But like in my experience...more people just = slower gaming/more lag

I worked in a data center for years and can tell you that Google's DCs are top notch so I guess it all depends on your perspective in terms of their reliability.

Time will tell and you're right, I don't think they've had a stress test of the service yet to see how maintainable their environment is under heavy load.

The nail in the coffin of game ownership.

I hope it succeeds but I doubt it will. Would be nice not to worry about upgrading pc hardware every few years.

If this flops in the first year of launch, ISP data caps will definitely be one of the first things to blame

This seems great in theory but not practical at all. Downloading games straight to your console was meant to be the future but it didn’t take off like how it was supposed to because internet connection speeds vary and people would rather have a physical copy to cut that time. This is a whole new level of dependability on home network

Great!

Google wants more data from us.

Bruh one day you're going to be 80 years old and you'll still be worrying about who has your info  Just enjoy life, my man. They already have more than enough on you right now

Who are you again? And why you acting like we spoke before?

Google data isn’t about getting our personal info.

Someone clearly doesn’t know how google makes their money, or why they’re even where they are.

Hell you talking bout? Digital downloads are getting more use by the day, there's an xbox console with no drive.

Who am I? I'm just living my best life  free of conspiracy theories and fake moon landings. We're all going to die one day...Might as well enjoy life instead of worrying about who Google is selling your information to... Eh whatever though it's your life and you can waste it as you please :pimp:

Which isn’t convenient. Maybe an old school game here and there but a current triple A title that takes up 80 gigs you gonna pay $60 and wait 6+ hrs for it to download or you gonna pick it up from the store and and wait 40 mins to download?

How the hell do you remember me from not believing the moon landing? That thread was in Aug/Sept of 2018.

Who said anything about google selling information?

You still don't know how google works? smh.

Yes it is my life, stop being obsessed with me. I got fans on NT I didn't even know exist.

Preload bruh

I was in the project stream beta for this. It was amazing that Input lag is nonexistent, but the picture quality was pretty bad, compressed youtube vid bad.
