I saw the movie thursday. Seemed more like a high school dramady than a super hero movie. Still the Jamie Foxx one was the worst by far of the movies so they didn't have to do too much to beat that.

I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the chase scene during the party that showed how much of an amateur he was. I enjoyed the upgrades to the suit and the comedic relief that came with "sudden kill mode"

It's a great point to build off of for future films. I also thought Tom Holland was excellent.

The supporting cast as a whole was very good. Especially Michael Keaton. The entire angle of a "villain" having that kind of depth/backstory was very appealing to me.

and if you missed the point of him turning down the opportunity at the end, you're missing one of the major points of the entire movie.

I know a lot don't like the Karen AI the suit has but it's a great touch imo. He's one of the few characters who's talking to himself for a long duration of time and having Karen allows him to do that whole not having him speak out loud or break the fourth wall.

Agreed with Karen.

Dude always speaks to himself. This allows him to not look too stupid :lol

I would loved for him to say something like "move Spidey move" :lol

Unsure how this will do at the box office. It's currently at 588 mill. I know it hasn't opened in China and Japan yet. Think the last Spiderman added like 54 million for tasm2. Not sure about Japan. I think the competition really hurt this film. It was surrounded by like 3 or 4 films. Probably should've released in August.

So he did all that complaining about being the real deal only to turn it down at the end.

Ferry scene was real solid. Final fight was garbage, yeah we all knew he was gonna push the cement off him but wow how corny after looking at the reflection in the water. Was a decent "twist" that Liz's dad was the bad guy.

I havent liked any spiderman movie since Toby McGuire
You don't like Spider-Man

Yea Spider-Man released on a terrible date. Matter of fact Spidey, apes and Dunkirk.

If they had proper spacing they would of all made more money.

Not sure if it has much weight in Japan. It's gonna get 60 mill at nost from China

It just opened in Spain yesterday and is getting really good reception. Every Spider-Man film has almost doubled there box office with Spider-Man in terms of China.

Spider-Man- 5 mil
Spider-Man 2 - 6 mil
Spider-Man 3- 19 mil
Amazing Spider-Man- 49 mil
Amazing Spider-Man 2- 94 mil

The MCU is huge in china as well. Just to give perspective Antman opened in Japan October of 2015 when we received it around July of 2015 and Antman made 100 mil in china alone. It's safe to assume that Homecoming would do 100 mil just off of it being an MCU film but the fact that it's Spider-Man on top of that makes it a very interesting wild card. Japan slightly smaller market but they have a nice Spider-Man fan base out there as well. The box office for this movie is far from over and the final tally may surprise everyone especially the DCEU riders at Forbes.

I went to try and see Spider-Man for the 5th time this morning at 11:05 am.....it was sold out. This is it's 4th weekend in theaters.

Apes, Dunkirk, Valerian, Girls Trip, Emoji Movie, Detroit, Atomic Blonde. Month was stacked.

I can see it getting 700. I'm just unsure if it'll hit 800.

The rumblings now are approaching 900 mil. The film will cross 600 by the end of this weekend and still has about another 13 days before Japan opens it and then another 28 days after that until china opens it. Apes, Valerian and especially Emoji movie are all flops. Girls Trip, Dunkirk, Detroit and Atomic Blond are all for adult audiences. Spider-Man has clear sailing as the only quality family film in theaters well into September domestic wise and none of those films have a name as big as Spider-Man international wise. Take into account the large market Asian countries Spider-Man opened in, it broke records. South Korea and India to be exact.

From what I can tell, Homecoming is doing really well domestically. There's a chance it can hit 300

It's not doing as great internationally as it should, even if you account for it not hitting China and Japan yet.

I wonder how this affects future Sony and Marvel negotiations

It's actually doing better internationally.

268 mill domestic
354 mill foreign

But nevermind about my box office worries. I read a report that this film will have longer longevity at the box office because the others, aside from Girls Trip pretty much underperformed. Also, yesterday or a day or two ago it was sitting at 580 mill, but now it's sitting at 623 mill. Idk where the big jump came from but now I'm confident the numbers will be good.

I wasn't clear.

When I said it isn't doing as well internationally as it should, I was comparing to how other Spidey movies released internationally.

Domestically, when not adjusted to inflation, I believe Homecoming is doing better than every other Spidey movie but one at this point but its overall total is falling way short of expectations at this point.

It's gonna be fine. It still hasn't opened in other areas besides China and Japan. I've read that its been delayed in many areas. They pretty much already cracked 700 mill with China alone. It'll hot 800 mill which is more than asm2 and that's good enough with all the competition it had this month. And there being not much competition in August it may do a little more than 800.

I highly doubt but could be wrong that it will do 800 million. It's already tracking well behind both guardians and wonder woman and with the latter not at 800 million although it opens in Japan later this month

It's already at 630 mill. It hasn't even opened in China yet. With China and Japan, it's gonna do 800

Guardians a sequel did a 100 million in China and only 10million total in Japan. Maybe I'll be wrong but I don't think it will do those numbers when it's behind Guardians in every territory so far

Guardians isn't Spiderman . He has a different appeal in China and Japan.
