Idk if you or her have classes or another test after the midterm but after the midterm make sure you leave at the same time as her ask her about it how she thought it was blah blah blah then say hey im going to eat/ get a coffee whatever you like and invite her to join. If she says no then she says no but i wouldnt try the other girl thing cause you dont seem to know a alot about her and it might turn her away. Goodluck with what you pick

I never give advice because lord knows I'll always be in the position to need some but here goes:

Be more direct. Stop beating around the bush and get a real answer. If it gets awkward, that's completely on her. You asking someone out is not awkward.
If you like her, don't mess around. Get an answer. But this in-between bs is for fools. Yes or no, at least you tried. Only then can you move on.
You're probably scared about a genuine rejection and that's natural but you need that rejection to move on.
