Shattered Backboard 1 2025

How did you determine that?
For one, mismatched color of the upper vs the outsole on the 25 SBB vs the Taxis (SBB outsole looks darker than upper) but that could be the picture.. Haven’t seen them in hand yet.

It's possible. Also possible the lighting and/or angle from the photo is throwing it off.

The leather on the OG was impeccable

Nike could source any leather in the world, they chose not to replicate the thicker cuts like the 2015 pair which is pretty sad. That being said these will sit and Nike will wonder why

Nike could use the best leather on these it wouldn’t matter, Ain’t no hype no more. I’m happy as hell cuz I skipped them ten years ago and def wasn’t paying them crazy prices. I’m glad hype is dead, getting closer to how it should be. With that being said I’ll get one for retail and then grab a double if or when they hit sales racks.

theres no way they made this decision not knowing it would get negative criticism. im sure when looking at the big picture this is simply a profit driven move but this was such a big missed opportunity to score some positive marketing points with the customer base. i'd argue they didnt even have to make them exactly them the exact same quality as the OGs but the materials have to be different to set them apart from other standard releases with this color blocking. A new box and themed insole was never going to be enough. They already diluted the shattered back board branding with the 3.0, womens only satins, and "close enough" color ways like the electro orange. This just seems like another soul less corporation move.

Thats said theyre still a nice shoe. theyre just not special anymore.

I agree 100%. Hype on the model is simply dead, no amount of "high quality leather" is bringing it back. Cats need to move on, 2015 was 10 years ago :lol

i dont think the hype will ever be what it was, but theres a minimum amount of effort they could have done to get people out of bed on release day and they didnt even do that

Yeah, but that went far beyond 1s. Last Dance had people buying any OG colorways 1-14.
Also Dunk hype peaked at that time, so people were pivoting away from 1s to spend resale on GR dunks :lol

Well said.

It was clear that making a nice box was far cheaper in terms of production than using the same materials as the 2015s. Also, this way they can retro these in 2035 and have them as “close to the OG SBBs” as possible (even using the OG High V.1 mold with the smaller swoosh, etc.).

These will sell decently well at disco prices regardless since the model is pretty much dead at current retail prices anyways and this is still a nice cw.

I remember when SB dunks were extremely hyped in 2006 (post NYCP/Staple drop) and then completely died and then came back again in 2020.

I’m sure something similar will happen with Jordan 1s but it’ll probably take a decade and a half with how flooded the market has become with OG Highs.
