The Mariners just announced that Mike Carp has been recalled from Class AAA Tacoma and will presumably join the team here in Chicago tomorrow.
Mike Wilson was optioned to AAA.
Mariners manager Eric Wedge was not happy with the team after this latest loss. He was especially upset at some of his veteran hitters who aren't getting the job done.
"I thought yesterday was different than today,'' Wedge said. "I didn't think we were very good today. I wasn't pleased with much of anything today. I didn't feel like we put up very good at-bats. We were a little sloppy defensively...we didn't make very good outs tonight. I didn't think we showed tonight what we've been showing and the way we have to play. So, I'm not pleased at all with that.''
Wedge noted that his team missed a couple of early opportunities.
"You go out there and you exectute early in the game and you push one across or maybe two across and it's a whole different feel out there,'' he said.

Wedge added that "this should be a gut check for them tonight because this isn't the way we play and this isn't the way we're going to play.''
The manager didn't go after any veteran players specifically. But he was clearly referring to Chone Figgins and Ichiro.
"With the way we've played and the approach we've had it's evident why we do well when we do and it's evident on the flip side,'' he said. "We've got some of these veteran offensive players that we need to be doing better. People that we're counting on that we need to be doing better. It's as simple as that.
"We've got a lot ot kids up here too but it's a whole different situation. But the veterans, we're damned near 2 1/2 months into the season and we've got guys that need to be doing better.''
