Does it really enhance picture and sound compared to component cables?
Do you need it for a blu ray player?
Cheap/expensive cables the same thing?

yes
yes (well u can use component)
and yes. for all your HDMI needs, hit up monoprice.com

way better picture if you TV is capable of higher resolutions......
blu ray players need it, or its basically a waste.....
I have used $2 cables form monoprice and $70 cables from best buy they look the same...

HDMI is the easiet way to get a full 1080p image from source to HDTV. Component is analog and only scales up to 1080i
you need it for blu ray to get a full 1080p image
and monoprice.com for all your needs. digital is digital...no need for expensive cables. get the gold plated ones so they dont corode

There are tech heads who know far more than me so they may drop real knowledge, but if you're doing anything high def you should be using them. I know itwas an improvement on my PS3 over standard components.

Monoprice.com is your best bet, get the cheapest ones on there.

1. Yes
2. In terms of a PS3, no
3. Not exactly. I don't know very much, but I know there are different qualities of cables, and different lengths call for different cables (correct ifwrong).

i got cheap cables ($10 or so), great investment. much better picture.

I guess it makes a difference, I don't think the difference is very noticeable coming from component cables.

The reason I opted for HDMI is because you can have both video and audio in one cable.

Like dude said, monoprice.com
