Ryan Gosling helpline set up for distressed fans
Comfort at hand for those in despair over actor's decision to take a break from film career...
A helpline has been set up for distressed fans of Ryan Gosling after he announced his decision to take a break from acting.
Gosling, who has critically acclaimed films such as Drive, Blue Valentine and The Ides Of March under his belt, told the Huffington Post that he wanted to focus on directing earlier this week.
With Gosling currently working on his directorial debut How To Catch A Monster, he said: "I've been doing [acting] too much. I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it.
"I think this is probably a good way to learn about that," he added. "I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does. There's a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film. I have done it. It's not my favourite way to work."
Now, website Blinkbox has established 'The Gosline' to help fans deal with the news, with people able to ring the emergency number and listen to audio recordings of some of his most famous lines of dialogue. Included among the selections are a speech from the 2004 romantic comedy The Notebook, in which Gosling says: "So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day."
A spokesperson for Blinkbox said: "We couldn't bear the thought of the distress caused by Ryan's announcement. We hope that this goes some way to relieving the pain and hurt caused by his selfish decision to take a break."
Doctor Who star Matt Smith is set take on the lead role in Gosling's How To Catch A Monster, with Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes also set to feature. The film will be released at some point in 2014, with an official release date yet to be confirmed.
