I love working from the office. Work from home was cool from 19 until I came back in 23 but being by myself didn’t help the grief from my mom dying. We only have to come in 3 days per week but I usually work 5 days.

sometimes they got free food like once a week.... different departments have meetings with customers/vendors and whatever food is not finished they leave it in the kitchen to grab... usually sandwiches, pizza, or Panera... one time they had moes

funny thing: the most unrealistic thing about the Jetsons in 2025 is not a robot butler, flying cars, or a futuristic all-white society...but George's 3hr workday. really moving forward, we are.

RTO is just pure pettiness. Nothing shows people have been less productive at home. Hell, the last time I was in the office there was a dude who browsed reddit like 4 hours a day and another who spent probably 3 on fantasy football leagues.
This myth people were spending all 8 hrs in the office grinding away is comical.

I wish more people had it easy at work, tbh. It’s a job. It affords you opportunities outside of work and pays your bills. If the job is being done well enough in the eyes of the people who run the show, why am I supposed to care? I truly don’t get it. Mind your business and do your job.

The truth about RTO is it is mostly about real estate. Lots of businesses invested in real estate for a workforce of a certain size. Rather than figure out ways to downsize on the real estate they are trying to get people back in the office.

yep that's basically it...The company is paying for the building, utilities and resources so they need people in the building to justify having it in the first place... some people though don't have the option regardless to work from home like the finance department or warehouse workers... I would rather have a 4 day work week and have either Monday or Friday off instead of work from home option

I feel like getting a 4 day work week would only turn into people saying a 4 day work week is too long.

it started with sunup to sundown long time back, then down to 12 hours, 6 days a week.
after people just like you and me fought, bled, and died (at the hands of cops and corporate thugs but that's another post) we finally got it down to the 8ish hours you work today.
100 ******* years later, most of us still spend 1/3 of our waking hours at work 5 days a week.
like, there's not a holy mandate stating 5 or 4 days or 40 hours or 32 hours or 60 hours is the Necessary and Proper way to Produce...we should spend as long working as it takes to work.
EFFICIENCY.
build it or clean it or type it or track it or lift it or sort it or load it or save it then stop.
feel like we humans have lost the plot on what work is and means.

some folks do have to be onsite full-time, we found out EXACTLY who those people were just a few years back...those people should be compensated appropriately for the hours they sell.
a mf dealing with the general public in person 40+ hours a week should not be making 35k.
...but like you pointed out, they never left the office so there's no RTO at BK.

To be honest, it’s sounds like an abundance of individuals are envious of individuals that have work from home employment. We all shouldn’t spend our lives just working and should enjoy ourselves. Also, most of these jobs could be completed in a few hours. We should want future generations to work less so they can have full lives with no regrets. There’s no satisfaction or honor working in an office most of your life; it was propaganda that was feed to the populace to have workers steadily available that will replace the older workers.

My thing is this whole conversation is only in favor of one kind of employee. So many industries that can't work from home. A nurse can't work from home. Its not a bunch of people being jealous, its a bunch of people being selfish. "This is a good idea because it benefits ME."

Yes its clear u don't get it. Have u ever worked a manual labor or blue collar job before? Do cooks or landscapers get extended periods of time daily where they get to bs on NT? That's all I'm getting at. White collar workers in this country are very privileged. You alluded to this in your original posts so I figured I'd expand on it. It should be simple, if you’re able to work from home then you should be provided the option. It benefits both the employer and employee. Working in IT and having been working from home since Covid it’s been proven we’re still running efficiently if not better. Plus I ain’t trying to buy no damn work clothes but I do miss looking at yams while commuting.

less traffic, less pollution, higher wages (disposable income), lower ops cost, similar output.
different careers have different demands, that's true...but some people would NEVER work in the office or love working outdoors or will not adhere to a set schedule or love animals.
Uber drivers "get to sit in the AC all day," does that mean they accomplish less?
a job is about getting paid to get the work done on time, all the extra is extra.
I will end each post itt by stating that pretty much every worker should be paid more.

Downtown DC economy is pretty much reliant on the government so I see how their economy was devastated. Kinda hard to survive with no foot traffic.

Me and the lady currently work from home since covid and it’s probably gonna stay like that for the foreseeable future. It’s very convenient cause it saves us childcare expenses (two young kids), gas, tolls, traffic, etc. Also we feel we can get errands done too.
The type of work we do it’s unnecessary to be in the office, unless you’re the type that likes to be around people. Just as long as the work is done, they don’t trip. They don’t micromanage. Me and my lady know we can make more, especially my lady (a lot more), going into the office 5 days a week but nah, can’t do it.
Plus the company I work for sold its building soon after COVID. So there’s really no office to work in unless it’s the corporate office and it’s not large enough to hold us.

When I was in the office I never worked 40 hours, maybe 20 on a busy week….A lot of the return to office stuff has nothing to do with the actual work, and is based on some outdated bs

Blue collar jobs? I work for USPS. And have for 10+ years now.
But what does that have to do with anyone else’s ability to WFH? If I’m not lucky enough to have that privilege, should I be mad at those who do?My job has hella other perks besides the opportunity to WFH. You’ll never catch me trying to hinder the next human from as little time in an office because my job doesn’t allow it. I want everyone to win at life, and it’s clear that A LOT of people feel like being made to come into an office to be unproductive 5 days/week isn’t working.
So tell me what else don’t I get?
