So I was looking up ways to remove a dogs tail. 8 week dog. I know it's by a vet through surgery but I found this online. And someone also told me this.

Tail docking occurs in one of two ways. The first involves constricting the blood supply to the tail with a rubber ligature for a few days until the tail fallsoff. The second involves the severance of the tail with surgical scissors or a scalpel.[2] The tail is amputated at the dock.

Isn't that cruel and painful? I mean tying the fricken tail???!?!?!?!?

in the hood, they use one of the tiny rubber bands... it works, but its painful for the puppy

rubber band.....thats how they used to neuter dogs rubber band around the balls and some people put the rubber band around the tail.

What kind of dog do you have? And why do you want to dock it? For the looks? If so, kill yourself.

Rubber band? *%@?

The tail is usually surgically amputated when the pups a few days old and the bones have yet to harden.

My dogs tail is docked but it's per his breed as a gundog. My father hunts with him as well so it actually serves a purpose.

If you're worried about how cruel and painful it is, why are you considering removing it???
