Re-release of the Chlorophyll Air Trainer 1??...

I have the release from 10 years ago. Haven't seen em in a store since...
Don't know what's really up with all the (int only?) releases since then.
Would get a new pair for retail.

I just got a pair with the same box tag.. $89.99. Ya'll had it made in early 2001. I have even heard stories on here that back in the day these were just sitting at outlets getting lower and lower in price.

Now only if people had known what they would be getting in the following years, they may have treated the 2001 release a lot better..

2002 limited co.jp release (asia, overseas, canadian type) release... impossible to find larger sizes... cheaper materials all around.. average American consumer price since 2005: ~$150-170
2008 had the same type of limited released for overseas including AUS and CAN. Same mediocre quality.. Average American consumer price from 2008: ~$120-180
2009 Legacy package retailed for $190 for two shoes. When you think about it, Not such a bad deal.. It's about $90 per shoe. For $90 though, you werent getting 2001 $90 shoe quality... Not many were able to take advantage. Wasnt it limited to 250 or 500 sets?? Average American consumer price due to resell: ~$260-400. Some were basically dropping $150 on this one AT1 og model but forced to buy a set @ $400.
Late 2009 saw a very short run in the states where, if you were online at that time and saw the thread, you could get a 2009 legacy pack style At1 for ~$90.. Few were lucky to scoop them up.. Average American consumer price after its release: $100-170.

During that whole time, the 2001s became sought after for their quality materials. What once was an easy pickup, became the must have out of them all. Prices would be in the $200-300 range, sometimes lower.. They were so obscure that you had to have a keen eye because some auctions would end in the lower $100s. Most buyers assumed they were 2002 quality lol

Just imagine if the AM90 infrareds or any Jordan og c/w or "popular" AM went through this same crap? Who, if any fans, would be left? You'd have a target audience of 20 because that's what you created.

Basically for the past 6 years, fans of this shoe have been dealing with inflated prices ranging from $20 to $200 over retail. The loyal, or stupid followers such as myself, just sucked it up and followed along... The following could be so much greater. Most people just didnt want to deal with this crap and went for other shoes. There are "underground" trainer fans out there. I know dozens. They just see through those limited bad quality releases and move onto something easier to obtain. (At the same time however, they are buying just as bad quality jordans. But that's what you're up against. You have to go with quality and then the "AT1 tinker" story and you've got your fans.

I'm surprised anyone is left. I feel like a show dog jumping through hoops.

A retro has to be on point or it'll be lost forever, like the auburn bo's. Don't make the same mistake twice ( ~3 other BO OG colorways released in terrible fashion) so I should really be saying, don't make the same mistake you've been making on the past 25 releases

.  The jumping through hoops part of it comes when you got your maxim trainer with a nappy suede coming out with perfect green accents, and a trainer dunk come out, and a test sample AF1xAT1.. It's all jokes. You created this lack of excitement and popularity and then wonder why it's not a "hot shoe". I can see right through that crap Nike

I am definitely a "sucker" for this shoe.  If even a halfway decent quality, easily obtainable retro occured this year, next year, 5 years from now, I am here to say I would probably scoop min 3, and as many as 6 pair if possible of both the cholorphyll and the red colorway.  I don't know what it is, perhaps the fact that these were some of the first shoes I really remember playing tennis, basketball, and generally running around hard in, or perhaps just because I recall the marketing and add campaign surrounding the initial drop with Bo and Johnny Mac, then Agassi, etc..., but this has to be my all time favorite NIKE.   Basically once I can snag a few Cool Grey 11s just to check off this list later this year and possibly some black cement 3s of decent quality, this Trainer 1 release would very likely end my days of being "into" the shoe game.  I am sure there would be something catching my eye here or there, but to be able to rock Trainer 1s on a regular basis would be exceptionally enjoyable for me.

Thanks for all your info/knowledge Wally.  I completely agree with the "Michigan" moniker that those have, and frankly feel fortunate to have "stumbled" across them a few years back.  They are my only pair other than the KNICKS colorway that I own, and once or twice a year, on a near perfect day I make myself put 'em on and wear them just to relive a little bit of the past.  Here's to hoping that NIKE does it "right" and gives us a decent retro of these sometime in the not too distant future.

Just repainted the Nike on the front of mine, gotta get a brighter shade of green though.

Why did they rot?
simple answer (from a historical observer such as myself). Nike doesn't know how to release stuff in moderation. They went on a dry spell from late 93 to late 97 from any sort of "retro" cross trainers. Then the wave began. Did they think the end of the world was gonna be happen by 2001?

97- raider sc III high retro (first since 1990)
98- royal blue sc III high (first since 1990)
99-"infrared" sc III high (first since 1990)
During that span, a carolina blue and lightning yellow sc trainer III along with a maroon theme and many others. For the SC trainer, it was a 7 year drought from 91 to late 97. Then the flood.

But that just started the process.

AT1s had the same wave:
2000 chlorophyll trainers get produced... Right alongside them are the AT1 michigans
4-5 months later, the med. ball sc trainers are retroed/produced for the since time since 1988
2 months after that production, varsity red AT1s get made.
A month later, white grey OG c/w sc trainers get produced for the first time since 1988... and then a month later, indigo nay blues OG c/w gets produced. Another first time retro since 1988.

You go on a 5 year drought, then bring out some of the original colorways like there's no tomorrow. 2000 to 2001, a 24 months span, saw 6 trainers, most of them retroed for the first time since a half decade prior. Where is the balance? Shoes lose their appeal and luster. Gradually bring a shoe back and gain some momentum. I've felt all along, someone is playing a sick joke against Tinker and Bo. Someone is out to crush this line...

It then, of course happens again from 2002 to 2009. This time on the other end of the spectrum. How can a fan base sustain with these droughts?

They set this genre up to fail time and time again. "Let's do nothing for 5 years, then take the retro scene by storm with an overabundance of stuff.. We'll see who's laughing now". Imagine the jordan line ending after VII, then 7 years later, they retro the I,II,III, and a few others in a 3 year span. Unless the Jordan line somehow stayed relevant, a retro 7 years later would be obscure as hell to the average person.

i didn't live through that entire retro phase but I could just visual how it went down.
