Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I understand standards are lower today.

But if K Dot had to battle the catalogs of Ghosts and greats, where would ya put him? I feel he’s got two classics, imo, with Damn and GKMC. And got enough hits (not to the level of Drake) for more than a decade which is crazy in rap years.

Went to my son’s flag football game today (4th graders). We make it to halftime. and one of the parent coaches (middle aged white lady) starts playing NLU at the 50 hard line and starts hittin that damn walk :lol whole crowd started cheering and laughing

the middle aged/class white people finding out about this song is a new level of funny i was not prepared for :lol

The same nonsense his fans say...

So 2 men make an album called sexy songs for you and a bunch of dudes on the internet get excited and say when they are about to smash they think of party and drake and put their music on cause it gets them in the mood

?????????????

weirdo behavior

What’s crazy I see a lot more dudes than women talk about this album. This Shorty I know was telling me she didn’t even know an album dropped, then proceeds to tell me she ain’t listening to PND since 2015 lmao

I often think of this myself.

I can't deny the numbers/impact but honestly, I don't think I will ever be able to give his catalog the edge over someone like BIG, Nas, Jay etc.

I'm fully aware this is due to a bias based on the rap that formed me. It is what it is

I went to World Series Game 2. It's baseball, so obviously I was the rare Black person in the crowd.

White family in front of me had two kids, probably aged 8-11. When NLU dropped you would've thought it was a damb Kidz Bop video

bro my almost 70 yr old mother loves NLU, she texted me during half time, been talking about it nonstop, said the pastor made a reference to in his sermon today and that it was playing on the radio in the car when she came out. she's hooked. it's like people get in a trance when they hear that beat go off, they just start grooving. my mother is probably a bit more in tune with hip hop than most people her age but she was only marginally familiar with Kendrick before the halftime show, i know she knew Humble before but that's about it

They way I look at is like... Future can't rap... Party doesn't really try to rap but he does. Future tries to sing but sounds like ****, Party can actually sing. They both talk about the same ****, but Future be sounding my like Drake constantly doggin *****es, Party doesn't really do that. Ultimately I just like Party's music better than Future, over all. That's not really saying much tho cuz Future is trash.

With that being said... I just finished this album. Starts off very strong. Stumbles at that latin sounding song... Meet Your Padre and Nokia. Skipped both of those songs immediately. Album recovers towards the end though, over all pretty solid album.

What happened? His music was garbage. He got lucky with that one song and it was a smash. His sound was never gonna blow up.

This was a dope song and I thought this would be around. Then he shot a video for it and the song played for maybe 30 seconds in the whole video.

his biggest hit and everyone thought he was the one singing the chorus.
