Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I've never heard anyone give props to Slim Jimmi's verse, it's all about the beat, Gucci's verse, and Swae Lee's hook and sound in general. You could almost end the song right before Slim Jimmi's verse just like Uzi's Bad & Boujee verse and no one would have a problem :lol would prefer neither of them to go solo though, they work perfect together, just like Mogos

Gucci verse :rollin :rollin :rollin

NT group think bout to tell me that was a good verse but say jimmi sucks :lol ok

NT group think? more like _'s with ears group think.

Ain't nobody bigging up slim jimmy's rapping except you. :lol

Yo Joe was bodying AK this episode

He clearly had got enough Sleep before going on

But I did agree with a lot of Joe Buddens points

I do feel like Katy was using the Migos

Same with how Miley was using, Twerking, Ratchet behavior, white washing

But the Bad and Boujee being brought to another level thanks to Childish Gambino?

Nah!

I think it was more of the Memes and people saying "Rain Drop" Randomly

The internet really put that push forward

Show seemed as normal as usual until Ak started puffing out his chest a little. Joe ain't like that sht

Yeah...Bad and Bougie was already a top 10 record in the country....but Childish Gambino gave it that push to #1....and introduced it to an even wider audience.

You could tell. The people at the award show didn't even get the reference :lol.

Nah. Gambino did little. Instagram did most for bad & bougie

Joe was right though on a lot today.

Juicy J can't get Katy Perry vocals for his album. Katy Perry can for sure get those Juicy J vocals for her single though.

Yup. Not only that....the Katy Perrys of the world won't come a calling when you aren't scorching.

Hopefully, Migos learned their own lesson...as well as from 2 Chainz, Future etc. You don't wanna get lost and go "too Pop".

Stick the the formula and stay true. Quality music to your core fan base will awlays win out over time.

i can definitely see that being the Migos downfall, especially when compounded w the fact that that style of music already has a new champion every month

But how are they being "used" even if it's just sales of the song or performances they are gonna garner a lot of attention off the song themselves. Both parties benefit off of the collab, Katy gets to do her goofyass impression of rap & migos have another guaranteed track on the charts & a little more noteriety in the pop world. They used eachother.

Nah that was a lil different. They were both signed to and working very closely w Dr. Luke at the time.

This is true but I'd venture to say Katy gains more than Migos.

If you're a 18-28 white female you probably already have a Migos song in your phone or in your daily rotation of songs.

On the flipside the urban audience that Katy is trying to attract probably doesn't listen to her on a regular basis.

I'd say whenever one of these pop female acts tries to leach off of the rapper, the rapper almost always has less to gain if you compare demographics and who's already listening to who.

Of course they're being used but so what? Is that any different from 90% of the collaborations of major artists within rap?

You think if Drake goes to get a Migos record right now that he's doing it out of the kindness of his heart?

Slim Jimmi's own grandmother doesn't even listen to his verse, but Wavez does :rollin

Gambino played a big role to white america

What was Katy Perry doing in that performance? :lol

I just don't get why these white girls try so hard to do the dances and ****. I mean I get it they wanna be like us but do they not see how off beat and funny they look?

There you go. Now you got it.

These pop stars are not reaching out to these trap rappers to be nice or make their audience bigger. 100% of the time that rapper is already big and that pop star wants to attach themselves cuz the fact is black people dictate wants cool. Like Joe said Juicy was already poppin, Migos was already poppin, 2Chainz, Mike was already poppin before these pop stars "helped" them. _'s should get their money but all money ain't good money. I love Juicy J but when are apart of Miley Cyrus little black fetish phase which was obvious at the time you look stupid.

I was cool with Katy Perry but that performance was all kinds of cringe :x :lol

This probably my favorite episode so far :rollin

Akademiks should be way better with his points and views on stuff IMO

it seem like he might be a copy and paste guy and that's it even you got in to rap later in life you still should have some reason for your takes

Joe was on point for the most part all episode :hat

Nadeska being tired & sweaty :lol

It was even more obvious on this episode that all Ak does is reads the internet and recycles that. Dude has no thought of his own.
