Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Lot of respectability politics and pull yourself up by the bootstraps here, but literally all crime and other social ills can be explained by income inequality and education.

You can call it what you want to champ. The alternative is jail. At the end of the day we have innocent victims of crimes, be they old, young and in between. No mature grown adult wants to hear a bunch of excuses about income inequality and education. You have a cell phone with free WiFi……that’s your resource for education right there. You advance your education…..you increase your income. Simple as that.

Life ain’t fair. Everybody doesn’t start off on equal footing, with the same resources, same opportunities, or same income. You make due with what you have and improve from there. You don’t make things harder on yourself created by yourself by getting pregnant by a bunch of dudes as a young girl or becoming a criminal as a young man……particularly as a black young man. Life ain’t DisneyLand champ. This utopia world where everybody gets a big bag of money doesn’t exist. Nobody is going to have sympathy for a young black man regardless of your circumstances…..you just adjust, deal with it and move forward.

Obviously, which is why pretty much any empirical research shows disparate outcomes related to socioeconomic status and education levels. You’re literally proving my point.

 Simple as that. Be well, man.

It's vice versa, but it isn't this huge thing that y'all portraying it as. Have I seen or experienced it in one way or another? Yes. Cats use to call fresh immigrant kids banana boats and monkeys. To think that it is only blacks from other countries looking down on Black Americans is false. It goes both ways. However, it isn't as widespread as Tarik having y'all believe it is.

I don't think it's just a black thing. It's a immigrant thing. Every immigrant group fresh in this country got it. The Irish, Polish, Italians.

Jamaican's in New York really didn't eventually because of their number as they grew, and they became ingrained. Probably at first they got it.

Hearing Clef and Pras talk about Haiti, made me remember being Haitian wasn't cool when I was a kid. I just thought of them from The Fugees on, but nah, they got joked and you wouldn't want to be from Haiti. Probably in Miami and Florida it might have been different.

Same with Nigerians, it's like you're a pioneer. Those first ones immigrating, you're going to get it.

but that's also part of us, we're going to joke and get on you, if you're short, fat, poor. For the better or worse 🤷‍♂️

Ironically our humor is part of our culture that we supposedly don't have :rolleyes

Malibu’s Most Wanted

Perfect description of this kid.

Little man has no reason to be acting out or getting in trouble with the law. Having crazy privilege, yet trying to be on some gangsta stuff will always be wild. And in this case, everybody knows homie didn’t grow up like that, so it looks foolish when we see the act.

Clifford come get your son bruh.
