Doesn’t address the root cause and like all major cities, they only care about crime in certain zip codes & zones, essentially creating hamsterdams. There’s pockets in Atlanta, NY, LA, etc that resemble a 3rd world.Wouldn't cleaning up the gang activity have a trickle down effect?

Cleaning up gang activity without properly addressing poverty just creates a vacuum. One gang gets swept off the streets and another group of people from similar means will take its place.
“The poverty line we not above
So we turn to mask and gloves cuz we ain’t feeling the love”
Not saying that we should let them run free. By all means, address the gang problem and clean the streets. But don’t ignore the fact that these problems will persist as long as those in power don’t make meaningful change within the communities that these problems exist.
Imagine if for every press conference that’s held where they’re championing the DA’s office for rico sweeps, there was one that clearly illustrated the opportunities that would be provided in these communities so that others may not get caught up in the criminal lifestyle.
Would you say the same if they were doing this for the mob?
BIG GLO!
Now we’re talking past each other. Are they supposed to solve the problem of parenting and single parents also?
You can't dismiss one side of it, because it's not resolving the root cause.
These dudes aren't just harming other gang members. Civilians are being hurt and robbed.
So we should just turn a blind eye to the gang issue, because it's not resolving the poverty issue. Just let them run frree.
I wouldn’t say a damn thing cause they’re white in America.
I don’t know if I’d say anything if it were the mob. I’m a Black man with little understanding of Italians due to limited interactions with them. It would be unfair for me to definitively say what sort of consideration mobsters should be given.
I do have a much better understanding of what my people go through, so I’m comfortable with saying that a lack of opportunity gives way to certain behavior. Provide opportunity, and it stands to reason that we’d see a reduction in those behaviors.
Now we’re talking past each other.
We’re all in agreement that violent criminals should be off the street.
But you increase presence & surveillance in area A, the next iteration of crews are eventually just gonna flock to nearby area B, terrorizing those (likely) poorer taxpayers who lives matter just as much as the richer taxpayers.
You’re essentially just pushing crime to different areas, and not actually improving the quality of life in the city as a whole, like trying to provide more outlets & opportunities for these kids earlier in life.
