Kanye was great at producing
"I want a good girl, she want a gentleman (Okay)
We saying the same thing like a synonym "
I feel Kanye is underrated because of his sneakers, Kim K etc.
I'm not even a fan but between his productions and some lines...
The original for sure, but sometimes I do prefer the sampled version as for some original music you sometimes have to listen like 7 minutes with not everything of interest, and there are some cases where the original was not so good and the guy who sampled it changed just a few things and obviously took the good loop and it became really something. Best way to make a great music without becoming beholden to the original is to dig into "bad" music, or unknown, weird, so you still got some value as a producer. Because, as you mention it, some samples are really "evident"...I agree with some of it but looking back at a lot rap from
The 80s, 90s and 2000s, a lot of credit needs to go to the dudes they sampled. Especially soul beats. The original orchestrators really did like 75% of the work.
