Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Akademiks said Drake is scared of Kendrick.

Watch NT OVO start hating on Akademiks now

Yeah, I been peeped AK trying to shoot his shot :lol. Yo like shorty.

Joe stay blowing it up. NeBraska be looking all uncomfortable [emoji]128514[/emoji]

AK is actually the logical brain in this show. I'm actually surprised Joe admitted that Future says nothing in his songs. We all know that but he usually sticks up for all artist on these type of platforms to avoid beef.

I think you'd have to carefully define what type of thought process that "logic" is coming out of. I think he is logical to someone who thinks the way he thinks.

He low-key hates Future. Won't say anything direct but he'll take shots like that a lot.

joe just fishing for the future you gon die fake tweet

he wants future to call him a f***boy so bad

It's always hilarious to hear Joe act like he's some sort of elite lyricist in hip hop...

Reality is....he was a run of the mill Def Jam machine punchline rapper from the early 00s....who had success in the mid to late 00s with a mixtape series....and was the weakest link n slaughterhouse. That's it.

And I used to like Budden **** back in the day. Especially his first album. But I always chuckle when he pretends like he's some Complex true hip hop lyricist :lol

Joe IS a top tier elite lyricist.

Def Jam punchline rapper? U tryna say he a Maino,Paul Kain Jr Writer Red Cafe Gravy type rapper? :rollin

Joe was the next Jay-Z. When you hear that intro for memph bleek about that "new improved jayz" Thatals what Joe was. Joe had the ability to make hit records. Party records. Smash r and b features. He even had mixtape bangers on the album i.e Focus and he added lyricism, he could get on any posse cut with any Elite rapper and hold his own or argue if he had the best verse. And he had introspective bars! You heard Calm down , 10 minutes all this versatility presented all on one album. And he could tell stories you ever hear freight train, 3 sides to a story?

The reason his career didnt pop off is Joe got blackballed by Jayz , i cant prove it but if Jay-Z was tryna go at his perceived competition Nas,Jadakiss,Budden, meanwhile propping up and featuring on South rappers albums in the mid to late 2000s

You missed thousands of freestyles him going bar for bar with Stack Bundles,Ransom,Fabolous all the triangle offense, desert storm , clue, envy ,kayslay freestyles.
Him going bar for bar with Jayz on pump it up.

All the battles he won, which he is still undefeated. Did you not see how he tore up Gunit , The Game, Saigon , Ransom etc..

No way Ortiz or Crooked better than Joe and i can make an argument Royce is better than Joe lyrically now. Royce for some reason is actually getting better over the years which is insane.

What you dont realize is his peers are FULLY aware of Joes lyrical ability. Its well documented what he will do in the booth. Thats why he can sit there and pop off about any rapper. Hes low-key wishing somebody give him a reason to them down. You see how Drake got washed,by a so called podcaster.

Budden is the depressed version of "real hip hop"

He was a good rapper in his prime tho regardless of his outside of rap stunts

To call him a run of the mill rapper is cutting him just a bit short

Also Ortiz was the weakest link in Slaughterhouse to me

I absolutely lump Joe in with the Writers and Red Cafe in terms of ability.

He clearly had more success.

Writer>>>Jumpoff Joe. Shruggs

You can't be serious with "Joe Budden being the next Jay Z". Can't be :lol

JR Writer was that guy when Writers Block 3 & 4 came out but hell no at him being better than Budden :lol

Joe shouldn't be lumped with them

Red should be lumped with Pap, Uncle Murda, Grafh, Maino, Gravy, News..... He was the post Diplomats Volume 1/50 Cent New York mixtape rapper.

and JR Writer was a one trick pony. He wasn't even Cassidy. Not close to Joe. Joe just doesn't just rap, he has subjects.

Guys like this is why NYC fell off :lol. I used to swear by Pap though :{

It's like a bad recruiting class that sets your program back a decade.

It's when labels started to fall off and it hasn't been the same since. They started being reactionary. They looked to mixtapes to sign rappers like labels look online now. All of them missed out on 50, so they wanted to make up for it.

It used to be a label didn't sign you if you sounded close to someone else. You had to be original.

but after 50 every label wanted a hot New York mixtape rapper. :{

Pap got over a million .

Jr writer was trash.

I can't say that, because if Writer were from the South he'd be the best rapper alive(Wayne) :rolleyes

Writer was a one trick pony punchline rapper though. Not even Cassidy or Banks, because they could make more versatile songs.

I liked Rell better than Writer.
