YOU WAS LOOKIN FOR A PLUG, MY PLUG WAS LOOKIN FOR ME
Doe boy really paved his own lil way. Thug on his old Gucci **** and getting his guys in position. Gotit and slimelife not even signed to him but rep YSL hard like dudes used to do bricksquad back then. Everybody ain’t meant to be the boss man tho, look at jeezy.
This is why someone needs to do some type of documentary or acknowledgement of all the influences of this current wave before this **** inevitably switches
start from wayne, go to future, keef, thug, key! (a moment like this where people really know how much he influenced *****s would change his career), gleesh, etc.
i aint know *****s ****ed with reeselaflare tho this was my **** in HS. smh. 130k views 6 years later i wonder why he never blew
doe boy getting features from future and meek now so well what he does ..but i feel like he should be alot bigger than what he is right now..he can easily start his own label and put on artists from Cleveland/ Ohio in general..scooter and casino already **** with hella people in Cleveland..then on top of that he can easily collab with people like mgk and get his fan base as well
Reese Laflare and Key! are actually both on that new Dreamville compilation and Fader just did a lil mini doc on Key’s influence so the timing of this convo is funny
What happens with a lot of these real underground influencer type dudes tho is that they’re artists, but not really entertainers. Their brand is their brand and that’s it basically. They’re not really reaching for mainstream love, antics etc. Some of these _’s like Keef are straight up introverts when they not around they _’s and just seemingly don’t really give a **** about being famous at all as long as they can still eat lol
So you get this situation where a lot of these dudes fans are just other rappers and industry ppl basically Your favorite rappers rapper. Everybody will know about them except the fans cause rappers don’t need antics or marketing to find you and dont care if you got 10 views or 10 million views, they just know good music and recognize talent.
With that said, some of these _’s would prolly prefer you NOT get bigger because then they can just borrow a lil swag here and there unnoticed, so they just support you behind the scenes It’s interesting to get around artists and see what THEY listening to. A lot of songwriters go through something similar
Edit:
As far as Reese, he not really charismatic/marketable on a wide scale, he’s a important player tho. Him and Key! were kinda the bridge between the trap _’s and the hipsters cause they moved around in both worlds. That’s how that template was created. Key nem had Carti tryna run in houses during the week and performing at hipster bars on the weekends
Reese brought Uzi into the scene when he came to ATL from Philly in late 2013 and basically let him run with some swag took him around introduced him etc , they were both messing with Cannon at the time. That’s when Uzi picked up “his” signature Yeah flow (aka the Key! Flow)
Thats a big part of how Uzi and Carti became the "Elite" of the new gen tho, they didn't have to wait around and discover all this **** off IG and SoundCloud. They got a lot of the swag early, in real time, directly from the source and just took it to the next level/blended it with some other stuff
Jeezy was plugged in with the Detroit cats and still couldnt do anything wit em ...They went off, did their own thing and got a nice lil lane nowGame and Jeezy are the worst A&R dudes around. Jeezy lucked into YG at least.
Heard dude don’t be paying ******Jeezy was plugged in with the Detroit cats and still couldnt do anything wit em ...They went off, did their own thing and got a nice lil lane now
this is huge..im calling it now dreamchasers is about to be the hottest label in the game
meek needs to tap into the talent in baltimore before the city blows up mainstream
