It happens all the time. Artists switch singles all the time when certain records catch fire. In this case, the dance put the battery behind a song that was already hot, and boom.
Attributing that record's success to the dance is a bit naive and misguided. Drake has been all over the top of billboard all year, he had two #1 records on the album before the album dropped, I mean he's been hot the entire year. The record probably would have taken off w/ or w/o the dance. The dance did help the song though.

Nah that dance made that song the “one”. He would’ve had another track crack the top whatever but this **** is a epidemic. I seen some girls making a video drunk doing the dance in the middle of the casino Saturday night, **** crazy. All part of the game tho, rich the kid, Rae sremmurd, a #1 ain’t got a * next to it.
