Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I'm more worried about Kanye and the direction he'll lead him in
I’ve had that same thought.

Nas’ album is also 7 tracks right. The last EP we got from him in similar to that length was illmatic.

I have faith tho.

^^6/15

Kanye did a great job of creating a sound that works for Pusha on his EP, I have faith he’ll do the same for Nas
Agreed.

I also don’t think Kanye would steer Nas into some random direction.

Nas is a legend and Kanye respects him as such.

I had good expectations for this Cudi/Kanye album. This **** trash. Kanye need to just rapping or whatever the **** ya'll wanna say he doing. Just executive produce.

Kanye got some nerve putting Marcus Garvey on here. Marcus Garvey calling you clown from heaven dawg.

Yeah fam, I feel the same way about Kanye. His flow, talking or whatever he's trying to do doesn't do it for me. His voice these days :smh:

I wonder about Kanye and what he's telling Nas when he's the booth. Is he guiding him or just yessing everything. Pusha T is his own different animal where he raps how he raps.

Nas needs to be told that's not it. And the way Kanye is rapping these days, he's not the one I feel comfortable with telling Nas, naw, your flow isn't good that song. Rap about this.

The direction of the album is also very important. It’s about to drop and we don’t even have an album.

Hearing how Daytona came out I’m know we can get a fire album outta this given Nas’ pen. The only thing is Pusha has worked with Kanye’s crazy *** for years now so he knows how to handle him.

But I’m sure someone (Nas) who has put out multiple classic albums knows what he’s doing. I just hope this 7 track stuff doesn’t fall flat on his face.

Because that's the job of an executive producer and Nas has also released a lot of bad and mediocre work.

I understand the reasoning for an executive producer when you've been making albums for 24 years and have all the clout, all the final decisions should be yours.

Pusha T for example, he's been in this game for 17 years. There should be no one who calls him at the last minute to tell him they're switching the album cover up, especially to some nonsense.

Imagine someone telling jay-z screw all those other songs you can only release 7.

As an artist you should be open to outside opinion. That's why you have people in the studio and bring people in. Your experiences since you've been famous and rich and 40 aren't what they were when they were 20.

And that seven song album worked perfectly for Push. How many did he sell? They were quality songs and it was short enough where you didn't get tired of the repetitive nature of his topics

And I don't think you know what a producers job is if you think he's just supposed to make beats.

Jay has gotten plenty of direction on his albums from Kanye, Puff, Rick Ruben, Dre, Timbo.

Direction and final decisions are two different things. No one is calling jay up and telling him they changed Is album cover days before the album came out.
Dawg it's the same thing. Part of the direction of a album could be a final decision.

We don't know if Dre told Jay "aye take this song and that song off, trust me" for Kingdom Come or if Tim had Jay make some changes last minute. You making it sound like some "I'm your boss" type of stuff. That's not what it is. People don't have Dre, Tim, Kanye, Pharell on their albums to just make a beat. They want to be coached.

I only listened to the tracks that had Pusha T and Mos Def uncredited on there, and those songs were terrible. If those beats are any indication of the rest of the release, Kanye and Cudi can keep that ****.

Kanye made his damn album cover on the way to his listening party. He made that final decision. Wasn't nobody gon make that call and force him to hangs it. I guess you have that option when you're the boss. It's not the same.

You don't think Kanye made decisions on BP3? :lol He just gave beats? Whether it's a cover, number of songs, whatever, that's what producers do.
