Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Wait....which one is it?

Is it that Kanye is silent on black issues or is it because he a Trump supporter?

Cause I thought ya'll were so heartbroken by his actions because he was once someone who....spoke on black issues. No?

I made no comments about Kanye being a trump supporter. Idk what you're talking about with that. You keep saying yall like you got receipts or something

I'm simply talking about pusha not needing to go down the he doesnt speak on black issues route because your boss doesnt. And that **** will only come back and bite Push in the ***. Let the audience talk about that. He just needs to focus on the disrespect and music and leave the commentary to the fans.

Why are you dudes trying to add morals to someone who talks about guns, violence and coke raps?

He's not the one who needs to protect his image or try to look squeaky clean.

Hello, he's been talking about poisoning our community for 20 years. He's not trying to be anybodies role model.

It's like 50.

The amount of reaching is insane.

****** was better off playing the "wait for the Drake smoke" card :smh:

I don't know how you connecting these dots but whatever man

If you want to play the "your boss" angle...how does it look to call out someone for being a "fake drug dealer" when your "boss" has been famous since the age of 12 but was shooting ****** and gangbanging in his raps?

I was thinking...

Drake cant even go the “you sold poison to your/our people” route at risk of alienating other rappers. At this point he just may need to go for it  Ain’t nobody gonna turn down a Drake feature anyway.

I pointed out that it is hypocritical for Push to take a principled stance against Drake black face, and hand wave his explanation away and question his character again

Push is the one that said the blackface thing goes beyond rap.

I never asserted Push was cosigning Ye's position on things, or he agreed with Kanye's position. I expected him to disagree and I'm happy to hear the confirmation. I question why he finds Drake actions so problematic when he can make peace with working closely with someone that cosigns white Supremacy so publicly.

I just said he should keep the same enery. Why publicly ask Drake to answer for his actions yet with Kanye his simply leaves it at a disagreement. There is still hypocrisy in that position.

I swear any criticism of Pusha is treated like a defense of Drake and dudes sink in their heels. Sheesh

If Drake does interviews take some moral stance against embellishing stroies about drug dealing, yet treats Wayne with kids gloves on the issue. Then he would be a hypocrite too

but he has said he doesn't agree with Kanye and they have discussions about it in interviews.

You think the president of your company or boss has the same beliefs as you?

That's different than something you did.

Realistically, I don't think Drake wants any parts of that black issues hypocrisy/Kanye convo because although there is something there just from association, he basically hasn't spoke on much of anything in that regard at all despite having prolly the biggest platform in rap. Push also just happens to be one of the few rappers these past few years that has been consistently tryna get black ppl more involved and knowledgeable about politics and speaking about the need for prison/police reform and other issues that heavily affect the black community.

Dude went so hard during the Hilary campaign that Colbert was tryna get him to host that Election Day special on Showtime

- I understand he disagrees with Knaye and I respect him for that, and that does improve my opinion about him on the situation a bit. But there is still and inconsistency about the stance he the taking on the two.

-The person I work for a socialists, so I doubt I do . But the dynamics of my relationship with my employer, or most people and their employer is different than Pusha and Kanye.

If Pusha can't take Ye to task for his views because he works for him, and Ye hold his economic security in his hands, then cool. So then I should also assume that all of Pusha's actions and words as a rapper is also sanction by Kanye too? I highly doubt that the dynamics of their relationship are like that.

I'm not asking for him to diss Ye on a track. Just take off the kid gloves when questioned about it. I agree with his stance on the blackface for the most part.

Do you argue with your friends in public or when you're alone?

I think Drake can come back with a really good diss record, he's that talented.

But I don't think he can win the actual 'battle.' It's over. Unless he steps outside of his image and has some real dirt on push.

Although he's extremely misogynistic in his raps, and although he tries to distance himself at times from the wholesome nice guy shtick, it's still largely who he's associated as. And because of that, the whole baby thing stings more than it would any other typical rapper, then you have the blackface thing on top of that.

Loyalty is important in the music industry. This Pusha and Ye situation kind of reminds me of the Joe Budden, Eminem, and Royce Da 5 9 situation. Joe was critical of em’s album and called it trash, while Royce felt Joe was out of line because of Royce’s loyalty to em. Many of us agreed with Joe, but Royce wouldnt dare ish on Em’s trash album because of his loyalty and relationship with Em. Sometimes you gotta be loyal to your camp, even if it’s not the politically correct thing to do.

Joe never talked about the album. Just the second single. People still get that wrong:lol

Famb I understand why he is doing it.

Just saying it is kinda hypocritical.

Yep, he brought this on himself too.

The second he claimed his issue we're more than rap, that he was questionig Drake morals, then that opens the door for people to check his morals too.

You can't play in the mud and ride a high horse at the same time Push.

I mean, if Drake questions Pusha’s morality along with Ye’s, Pusha can talk about Birdman’s moral compass... while reiterating Drake’s silence about the photoshoot for 11 years, his relative silence on race in general, in addition to whatever other “layers” he still has in the chamber, etc

Agreed, that would be fair game.

I'm expecting a good response either way but idk man.

I could very well see him stepping out his image in this one instance after those bars about 40

All y’all with jobs/careers on this message board are probably employed by companies with racists history. And use daily products created by companies... with racist pasts...

Heck, look at the NFL, look at Donald Sterling. If y’all saying Pusha is turning the cheek about Kanye, then the majority of you guys are doing the same. (Unless you’re self employed).

Everything has just come full circle right now. Just continue with your daily livelihoods and move forward.

Drake will be fine because his crowd is his “crowd”. Push gone continue being a legend because he was already that. He just enlightened the PC rap culture (Ironically, rap was never meant to be PC). I don’t see how people call themselves rap fans, but want a PC, “let’s be nice and friendly” approach. Rap was never meant for that. Rap is about crushing your competition! Pusha is putting all these “new” rap fans on notice that, this genre ain’t meant to be friendly! I love it!
