Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Drake went at pusha though on 2b1s and pusha ton to my knowledge didn't respond to that

But really it's you with all the drug dealer stories That's gotta stop, though
You made a couple chops and now you think you Chapo
If you ask me though, you ain't lining the trunk with kilos
You bagging weed watching Pacino with all your ******
Like, "This what we need to be on," but you never went live
You middle-man in this ****, boy, you was never them guys
I can tell, 'cause I look most of you dead in your eyes
And you'll be tryna sell that story for the rest of your lives

Been proven multiple times by multiple people but it's lies. You should go with the angle, get new material for your diss. We've heard it already.

Hmm...

A google search lead me to this thread

Everyone popular technically becomes a "plant" at some point in their career. You don't just blow up out of no where. There's always someone controlling the behind the scenes, connecting the dots. Even BrockHampton has had an A&R for years making moves.

That doesn't mean that they didn't put in the effort beforehand for someone to be willing to work with them, but no one gets to the level of being well known without some already established connections.

Technically, aren't all artists backed by The Big 3 labels "industry plants"?

They literally plant them into....the music industry via contract

The person bubbling on Soundcloud/YouTube from their basements that gets noticed by an A&R and signs a record deal...and the person who knew the right people are one in the same. Regardless of HOW they got there...a corporate entity still had to choose them. Musical talent isn't hard to find, so all of these major artists aren't necessarily the "best of the best". They're the best of the best FROM the major record labels.

The negative connotations around the term "industry plant" may be a bit overblown. 6pac 6pac may have expressed something similar before

an industry plant is just a term people throw on people who network/make connections/get on thru nepotism which is how everything works

very few people just bubble organically on the web without someone stepping in early

think about who has blown in the past 20 months who wasnt either affiliated w someone big or pushed by a bigger entity

even for artists who are bubbling on their own w good music like smino he probably still has to link with a bigger entity before u see and hear him everywhere

if you look at how kanye and drake were placed into positions to debut they could be considered industry plants by the definitions they throw on chance and post...ye’s mom got him into the industry thru common and no id and he rode that to roc a fella. i consider that networking but by peoples logic of him not getting it from selling cds out his trunk...

I said a long time ago everybody is concerned an industry plant. It's an overused phrase.

I'm ready for that album. Production sounds dope, he bringing it like always, and he not tryna force any pop records.

It's levels to this plant ****.. for example 69 and Chance are both plants but Chance situation is a tad different. Son was fake independent for a while with politicians behind him forcing huge publications to remove any slightly negative articles about him

:lol ****** do not like when dudes throw shots at their favorite pop stars. Who cares, son doesn’t need buzz he never gonna go plat or be a major selling artist. He just feeding his core at this point. I can do without a drake disses from any artist in the game honestly.

Been on NT for a while. Never knew the music section on NT was poppin.
My first post here and on the cusp of Pusha T droppin Daytona!

Has Push ever admitted to dissing Drake or has he been throwing rocks and hiding his hands this whole time?
