Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

anyone know the reasoning behind SZA adding new songs to an old release and callin it a deluxe instead of just dropping a brand new album? Is there some loophole or advantage to doing so?
I’m wondering this too. I expected the deluxe to be no more than 5 new songs. She dropped 15 new tracks. Definitely could’ve been a new album.

In the streaming era, it's more beneficial to give your old projects a bump. Older catalogues stream more than newer projects. And they could possible be songs recorded in the same session.

.
One thing, the way this project is mixed on another level compared to how current projects normally are. It makes you feel like your headphones/earbuds got louder and the clarity.
Dre’s specialty. Man can mix a track better than anyone.

This right there is spot on.

Hes not wrong about feeling underrated cause he is and folks love forgetting just how nice he is/was but its his own antics and drama that took away the attention and focus off his music to that other stuff.

He's probably known more as a personality at this stage than his bars to the newer generation like T.I.

Fat Joe is a clown.

I tried listening to his project and heard him talking about Us as if he were one of “us” and turned it off. It was pandering ********. Us talking about “them” would never be allowed in reverse.

He’s another one whose mouth ruined his music for me.

I think part of it is no pressure. Sales won’t be a concern. The same reason they do the mixtape thing.

Plus she has a movie coming out next month with KeKe Palmer, so she’ll probably be doing press for that and combining it all into one.

Game, Meek, Fat Joe…they don’t seem to get it

Tip got massive hit records. This generation definitely know his music.

But Game had a stretch where his music was starting to change the narrative. Jesus piece, Documentary 2, Born To Rap was all great but then he got on his BS. He was stupid for ever talking crazy about Dre. Some people that helped you, you should never publicly disrespect him. See Bleek and Hov.

I was just saying the same thing. Ever since he's been known as a liar storyteller, I've been off of him, but the Verzuz did it for me.

Snoop/Dre dropped something nobody asked or was checking for so no surprise the sales low

It seemed like it was a commitment. Thirty years, even though nobody was asking for it. You didn’t care about 10 or 20.

No love or passion was there. Even the promotion was half ***.

Dre should do like Nas and release vault stuff instead of new music.

Fat Joe trippin on this one. "Racist black Americans" don't even make sense.
Blacks, overall, are a loving people.

We accepted Lyor Cohen, Beastie Boys, Vanilla Ice, 3d Bass, Fat Joe, Big Punisher into the culture.

But you can’t disrespect the culture or the people who created it.

We’re not getting our 40 acres and a mule, reparations…but it’s too bad we’re not the gatekeepers and beneficiaries of this culture.

Game was never good to me. Outside of the antics, I just couldn’t get into dude. Kinda hate 50 let dude get them singles for the first album. His antics made it worse, especially early on. Dissing dudes, then say you ain’t got a problem with them dudes, just to throw bricks again and hide your hand.

Always will have love for Chuck T, but he did it to himself 🤷🏽‍♂️.

He still had a damn good career and made millions at the end of the day he won.

100% 🤡 tho
