As some who's never bought a solo Kelly album (Same with any Puff albums or collabs)or saw any of those closet videos I'll never be fake mature enough.

Two classics, wack as **** they weren’t on albums.

Puff Remix album was wack too. Should have added old remixes that were never released.

Best of Both Worlds was a disappointment. Not sure what went wrong but it just didn’t turn out good. Don’t even remember the second one anymore.

Man I absolutely LOVED the first one
Me and my cousins might've played it 300 times that summer
:smh:
I tried to listen to both albums again this year. Couldn’t tell you one song I liked from either. Ion know, guess I was expecting an album full of tracks like “F***** You Tonight”. Fiesta was dope, but I feel like the video played a big part in that for me. Jay and Robert not a duo I’d put together for an album. R. Kelly should’ve teamed with a rapper that’s good at making tracks for the ladies. Him and BIG would’ve killed that. Tracks for the ladies wasn’t really BIGs play but he had the voice and suave for it, and showed he can drop them type of tracks.

This is another reach that people make. That record was about the case he caught stabbing Un. That was like 2 years before the R Kelly tape came out.

Yea it was always understood jay was rapping about the Un situation. But Kelly had numerous rumors floating around well before that. There was a civil suit in 94. Illegally married 15 year old aliyah that same year. Newspapers reported there had been at least 2 investigations into Kelly before 2000. The piss tape was recorded in 98-99 and the investigation began in 2000. At the time it was known he wasn't just singing a hook for jays legal troubles. "Jigga AND Kelly, not guilty". What was he not guilty of? He had definitely paid that girl off by the time this song released.

R Kelly is a pathological liar but he claimed the original idea was him and Pac. I think after he passed, the plan was to do it with someone else, not sure how he ended up with Jay.

Its one thing to do a record with him but that "not guilty" celebration joint was nasty work.

That “guilty until proven innocent” record came out in October 2000, the tape and accusations against R. Kelly came out in like early 2002.

You listen to R Kelly?

and I agree, I thought the whole Best of Both Worlds was nasty work after I matured. I don't even listen to those albums.

People had a different attitude back then. I know I did.

But like Maximus Meridius Maximus Meridius said, your time frame is off for the not guilty song and that led up to them doing BOBW.

I dont really listen to R Kelly mainly because I'm not into r&b like that. I listened to him back in the day when he was everywhere. Last time I heard an r kelly song the lyrics were too crazy in hindsight but I dont really have a problem with listening to him or if anyone else wants to listen.

Man if that’s true, him and Pac would’ve been 🔥🔥.
I didn’t think of Pac because of who some of the R&B artists seemed to be aligned with back then. Thought Jodeci them, Aaron Hall were collaborating more with the West Coast. Not to say that was the case, just how I viewed it back then.

Do many artists make much off platforms like Band Camp where it's like an old ITunes model of pay per song/album? In the DSP era I don't see J Cole getting many sales and like said earlier it's too easy to listen to these tracks online for nothing.

I never really liked any of the Best of both worlds songs. I don't think I ever sat and listened to the whole album. :lol

Hov and R Kelly didn't make a good rapper/singer duo. Hov and Mary sound better. R Kelly sounded better with Biggie.

Im still salty till this day lol. I remember when the only rap station in Cleveland at the time first received honey, the dj was hyping it up like it was going to be biggest song that year lol - he would play like first 30 seconds of the song then run it back and talk **** for like 2-3 minutes then play the first 30 seconds again - this went on for like a hour before he finally played the full song

I feel like a lot of this is revisionist history + typical jay hate and Kelly being a POS.

It's like thinking Big and Bone could recreate Notorious thugs magic twice let alone across 10+ songs
